This is another installment of Atheist Republic’s “Silly Illustrated Scripture” series! We create comics of the wackiest, craziest, most absurd verses from holy texts under the sun!

Bible Verse:

“And Jacob took him rods of green poplar, and of the hazel and chestnut tree; and pilled white strakes in them, and made the white appear which was in the rods. And he set the rods which he had pilled before the flocks in the gutters in the watering troughs when the flocks came to drink, that they should conceive when they came to drink. So the flocks conceived before the rods, and the flocks brought forth streaked, speckled, and spotted.”

Context of the verse: Laban is Jacob’s father-in-law who repeatedly cheated and tricked him in the agreements they made regarding Jacob marrying Laban’s daughters, which resulted in Jacob completing many years of contracted servitude. When Jacob wanted to leave with his wives and return to his own people, Laban made another deal with the intention to trick him out of livestock, depending on their color or speckling. Luckily Jacob had God-magic on his side to aid in the breeding process and help him get out of the mess.
