Olokun is a water spirit in the Yoruba religion, believed by some to be the first spirit to dwell on the earth. She is venerated as the ruler of all bodies of water and for the authority over other water deities. Olokun is represented as either male, female, or androgynous throughout different regions of West Africa and the African diaspora. Here she is seen taking Jesus to task for usurping her power in Southern Nigeria.
