In regards to the study about Atheists being more likely to own Cats than Church going believers (paraphrasing). In classes I have taken on research design typically you have to control for variables and look at any possible confounding factors that may harm your results. From what I have heard of this study at best it would seem to be a preliminary correlation that poses some interesting questions. Hopefully they setup some more careful future studies to arrive at more solid results.
