I'm losing my mind over what that "holographic" projection system could have entailed. I can't find anything about it, other than it looking awesome at test screenings. Edit - It may have all be hearsay. Animator Dave Bossert had this to say: Hi David, The Black Cauldron was my first picture at Disney when I joined in early 1984. I’m a fan of the film for many reasons but have never heard anything about 'holographic 3d imagery' planned to be projected with the film. Never even a whisper about anything like that and I was at the Studio for more than thirty-years. I wonder if somewhere along the line someone got confused, you know how the telephone game works, because the film did use some live-action special effects that are dimensional looking. That is the only thing I can think of and again, I just did an interview with Joe Hale the producer of the film. He is in his 90s now and very lucid about details of the film—he never mentioned anything about 'holographic 3d imagery' being projected and we talked about a lot of aspects of the film. Sorry I couldn’t be of any more help. Be well and stay safe. Thank you, -Dave
