A burgeoning love of cinema (inspired by perversions) causes Kevin to find a new friend in Wally, and he soon receives a silver screen education under his neighbor's wing. But when Kevin discovers Wally made a movie of his own decades earlier, we learn about the shoddy art that brought him and his grumpy love together back in Red Scare America. It's a touching little tale that shows off the kind of series Mission Hill could be if it saw more than one season, and special guest Matthew Jay (of [the deep end] and Cartoons 101) joins us to discuss it and our own love of movies!

That episode was very good it’s a shame that we didn’t get more Mission Hill. Glad you guys had on Matthew Jay. As a fellow Matthew I’m going to cut the audio of “we love you Matthew” and cherish that audio.

2020-07-24 04:00:16 +0000 UTCIt's kind of incredible how well done this episode centered around a gay couple written in 1999 holds up today. There wasn't really anything that made me go "yikes" watching this for the first time, and I loved how sweet and real it felt, while still delivering some pretty good jokes and a lot of pop culture references. This REALLY harkens back to the best episodes Bill & Josh produced as showrunners of the Simpsons, and it's a goddamn shame they didn't get to make more Mission Hill after this one, because this is a goddamn accomplishment. I really hope they find a home for the revival series because I will throw my money at any opportunity for more stories in this world.
