Fry becomes royalty! But at what cost? When the Planet Express crew makes a delivery to the desert planet Trisol, a very thirsty Fry unwittingly drinks the emperor and becomes the new leader. But the populace's penchant for bumping off emperors could make his reign a short one. Grab a glass of salt with water in it and get ready for a podcast episode that'll make you sit up and shout "BAM!!!"

Thanks everyone! Sorry I posted twice. The mobile site didn't show my original comment and I thought it didn't go through.

Elzar has this weird treatment where they can't decide if he's actually a talented chef. He starts off that way, but by like season two or three he's straight up forgetting to cook dishes at his restaurant.

Every place has its problems, and we do complain about the Bay Area from time to time. But (IMHO) Berkeley (where Henry and I live) has a much different vibe than San Francisco, and is a bit cheaper. Frankly, not having to own a car is one of the biggest reasons I live here.

This is going to sound a bit harsh, but what are the positives of living in the Bay Area? I am sure there are many, but it seems like every detail that you guys mention about daily life makes it sound like an expensive shit hole (where people don't even shit in holes)

I never thought Fry not crying at Bender's insults was a "I'm too manly to cry" thing, but more the fact that he's too carefree to cry about anything (or at least about any of the stuff Bender came up with.)

Ramsey is fine on British TV, a human being and everything.

I love the running gag with early episodes where the thing they're supposed to deliver would have negated the whole plot of the episode

There's still some pretty good lines in this, but I'll agree that it's definitely on the low-end of season 1 episodes.

Prior to this podcast, I had no idea Bender's favourite cooking show was a specific parody of an existing show/person.

I'm sad that we didn't hear anyone claiming that the show so far should hold all the SOBs.

I originally thought spongebob was a spumco cartoon. so i was anticipating it. I rememeber trying to download the theme song with my ancient dial up connection and just listening to it slowly come across in fragments. oh those were the daaaaays. π©π

Oh jeez, that was absolutely not my intention. I very much apologize for making it sound that way, as Fraser has already suffered enough. Very sorry for any confusion I caused.

The idiot sandwich guy Heney is trying to think of is British chef Gordon Ramsey and the movie staring Bradley Cooper is called Burnt and not Chef which is actually another movie directed and staring Jon Faveau.

In case anyone else was confused - when Henry says that some MeToo stuff happened to Brendan Fraser, it's that Fraser was the victim. Until I looked it up, it kinda sounded like Henry was brushing off misconduct allegations against Brendan Fraser, which seemed very out-of-character for our good cartoon boys!

Blast From The Past is crazy good. when was the last time you watched The Mummy though? a lot of it does not hold up sadly. like 90% of the people killed in the movie are faceless minorities haha. also there is a huuuuge ...not plot hole but similar. the guardians of the tomb have been protecting the burial site for 3000 years. so what happens when some white guys show up? they give them a 'warning' and then just leave, allowing the main characters to fuck around with the ancient evils. like, how bad are you at your job that you allow the most powerful force on earth get unleashed? they should have slaughtered everyone who got too close to the burial site! sheesh!

I remember I had a speech class in high school (circa 2004) and I had the assignment of a persuasive speech. I chose to give a speech to educate my classmates on why FOX should bring back Futurama (for the first time). I don't remember my arguments in detail except for that the show could go on forever because of the possibilities the premise of being in the future. But I do remember finding Fry's "Nagging Grasshopper" speech so funny that I ended my speech with that. NO ONE IN THE AUDIENCE LAUGHED. That's when I knew I was better than everyone around me and that Futurama was doomed.

The first 3 seasons of Spongebob are probably right up there with classic Simpsons.
