Marvin, the security guard-Library Surveillance
Added 2024-07-04 01:36:46 +0000 UTCEver wondered what the citizens of Lemontown think of MC and the ROs? Well, I'm starting a collection that will give you the perspective of certain Lemontown residents who have witnessed MC and the ROs in action or interacting. 😄
It'll be interesting to see the outsider's point of view and hear them thinking, "What the hell?"
Also, have fun guessing the scene where that happened in the game.
Enjoy!

It's five minutes past the start of your shift when you step out of your car, adjusting your cap with a sigh, but today, you don’t give a damn about punctuality. The air is cool, a slight breeze rustling the leaves on the nearby trees. At least the weather is not as shitty as your mood. You lock the car and begin your walk toward the library, each step heavy and reluctant. The weight of your footsteps matches the weight of obligation—after all, bills need paying, and this job puts food on the table.
Approaching the entrance, you pause to glance at the quiet street around you, checking for any signs of unusual activity. The automatic doors slide open with a soft hum, reluctantly welcoming you inside. The familiar scent of old books and polished wood greets you as you stride across the lobby. At the reception desk, Mrs. Jenkins looks up from her newspaper just in time to catch your eye.
"Hello, Marvin," she says, her voice flat as usual.
You nod and mumble a quick "Hi," happy that she never has much more to say to you.
Dragging your feet, you make your way through the aisles of neatly stacked books toward the stairwell leading to your office. Each step up feels like an uphill battle, the heaviness in your heart matching the heaviness of your steps.
You've worked as a security guard at the Lemontown Public Library for three years now. It's a quiet job, usually spent reading books and keeping an eye on the screens. Lemontown is a quaint town where everyone knows each other, and major crimes are rare.
At first, you enjoyed the peace and quiet, but lately, you've felt restless. You've been thinking about quitting this job for a while now. You've always dreamed of traveling the world, seeing new places, and meeting new people. You've never had a girlfriend, and you're starting to think that if you stay here, you'll never find love.
A sigh escapes you as you make your way to the small control room, or your office as Mrs. Jenkins calls it. You take a seat on the worn-out chair, the hum of the recently installed cameras buzzing in your ears. The screens flicker in front of you, casting a blueish hue on your face. Your eyes scan the different angles of the library, but your mind is elsewhere.
You shouldn’t be here. You should be somewhere warm, on a beach with a nice blonde girl in your arms. But that's not happening, is it? Not until you quit this fucking job, pack your bags, and start driving south.
"Yeah… not until then," you murmur.
As you're lost in thought, you notice something strange on one of the screens. It's the "Nature Section" of the library, and there are two people there, passionately making out between the bookshelves, hands groping urgently. You lean in closer to get a better look. They're not just kissing; they're going at it, with hands going inside pants and underwear. Your eyes widen in shock. You've seen some things in this library, but never anything like this. Correction! This is the most action you've seen in your three years on the job.
You zoom in on the couple, trying to get a better look. You recognize the redhead immediately. They come to the library often, always alone, always reading. You've never seen them with anyone before. The person they're with is a mystery to you, but they seem to know what they're doing. The redhead's face is flushed, and their eyes are closed in ecstasy. You can't hear anything, but you can tell that they're moaning.
"Fuck!" you say out loud, startling yourself. "Are those people serious? They're getting freaky in a public library!"
You shake your head in disbelief. You don't know why this bothers you so much. Maybe it's because you're jealous. You've never had anyone look at you the way that redhead is looking at their partner. You've never had anyone make you feel that way.
You watch the couple for a few more moments, feeling a mix of arousal and sadness. You're glad that someone is finding love in this small town, but it's a painful reminder of your own loneliness. You sigh and lean back in your chair, letting your eyes wander to the other screens. There's not much else going on in the library tonight. Just the usual suspects, reading and studying.
You think about your plans to leave Lemontown. Maybe you'll find a better job in a major city, one that pays more and has better benefits. Maybe you'll even find love. You chuckle to yourself at the thought. It seems unlikely, but you have to try.
You turn back to the screen with the couple, watching them for a few more moments before turning it off. You don't want to be a creep, watching people in their most intimate moments. But you can't help but feel a pang of longing. You want what they have, that connection, that passion.
Maybe someday you'll find it, in a dark corner of a library, or somewhere else entirely. For now, though, you'll keep watching the screens, keeping the peace in this quiet town.
After all, you're Marvin, the security guard.
