Luffy learns from his mistakes after biting off more than he can chew and several people begging him to be smarter. He did it with Kaido after Law tried to stop him. He did it with Big Mom when he crew tried to temper his anger. Luffy consistently crashes out just like Kid. He just has a much better support system and plot armor. Kid moved exactly like Luffy taking any challenge regardless if it was beyond him. Kid was just also ruthless and paid the price for it.

Luffy learned from his mistakes and knew he had to train his haki even more to actually beat Kaido, and because he's actually a nice guy he gets good teachers. Kidd was simply overconfident and clueless the everytime we saw him, hence why we got the "They're all old fools! we're the strongest!" flashback while he got whooped without difficulty.

Kid is a pirate, but it's also just his character and I'm sure it played in to Shanks doing what he did. But you're right, "innocent" is the wrong word lol "Weak" was the word used. Luffy was one-shot after Kaido attacked his friends. Kid arrogantly went looking for a fight totally unprepared and attempted to vaporize a bunch of weaklings only to get one-shot in the process. It was just unnecessary on Kid's part and I think even Killer knew that. I don't think it's weird people dog Kid for the outcome compared to Luffy, I think everyone knew they both weren't winning but the positions aren't the same IMO anyway. Thanks for civil conversation. You don't always get that from people when it comes to OP lol I can see your point though even if I think differently.

No matter how weak they were, they were enemy combatants stepping in the way of another enemy force. They all knew the danger and accepted it, because they are pirates. The bulk of the criticism is based on his level of strength and overconfidence when facing an Emperor one on one and getting one shot, so yeah, he and Luffy were in the same boat, regardless of who was in the right.

Luffy would never pull up and just destroy 9 fleets of innocent people who had nothing to do with his beef with someone else lol Kid came in arrogant with no plan and tried to kill a bunch of Shanks' friends. In contrast, Law was just unfortunate he ran into Blackbeard while Luffy had a whole ass country/alliance fighting to take down Kaido (the one time he blindly attacked Kaido was after he thought he killed everyone). What was Kid trying to do here? lol Shanks one-shot Kid to avoid destruction, but the main reason is likely cause he was mad Kid would attack his fleet. We know Shanks isn't merciful to those who mess with his friends, let alone trying to vaporize them with a Damned Punk 😭 Kid got exactly what was expected, but this is just my opinion.

Kidd has the same bounty, so they putting him up on that same pedestal. He gets one shot, and that makes it so much easier to clown him cause it feels like he didn't deserve such an increase.

2024-11-02 08:35:33 +0000 UTCthe jump from seeing everyone talk up how Shanks has a fleet composed almost entirely of weak pirates protected under his flag, to Kid and his crew getting decimated off the shore of Elbaph, it's so much to get in one episode but I love it Kid was out of his depth but it really does take that kind of spirit to even begin to get anywhere close to being king of the pirates, and the crew giving up the poneglyphs for even a chance to save their captain? I can't help but respect it lol, we only get glimpses of non-Straw Hat crews but this arc really does sell how much these crews care about the one piece and each other killer reaction and discussion (shout outs to Raven lmaoooooo), looking forward to the next batch!
