2024-09-19 02:53:36 +0000 UTCAMetalWorld - Sasuke chose to save Naruto from Haku’s needles with the knowledge that he would probably die from it. Sasuke told Naruto to take Sakura and escape from Gaara, knowing that he could do nothing to beat Gaara. He could only hold him back until he died. Shikamaru was a diversion to hold back the sound ninja, knowing that they would kill him when his shadow possession ran out. Choji chose to take the red pill knowing that it would kill him because he wanted to save a Leaf shinobi. Not because it was Sasuke, but because he was a Leaf Shinobi.(Shikamaru’s speech before the mission). They make these decisions all the time when they want to for the village. But when Sasuke chooses a path for himself, they try to force him to return against his will.

2024-09-09 01:55:07 +0000 UTCSasuke never chose to sacrifice his life for the village. All he’s doing is being an angsty adolescent, chasing power. He only entered ninja school in the first place to seek validation from his father and be like his cool older brother, and even now chasing after his brother is basically still his motivation. I get that you’re saying that by their system he is “of age” to make that choice, just pointing out that he didn’t do that. Furthermore, they are only allowed to even enter battle after extensive training and under the guise of a supervisor, who then prioritizes their safety (this can vary depending on the jonin obviously, but ours certainly does). The exceptions to the rule being people like Shikimaru who are particularly exceptional prodigies, who are tentatively given more trust and responsibility, and even then it’s rare at that age, and primarily for the sake of training the next generation of adults one at a time. Or maybe people who grew up in particularly turbulent environments such as Itachi, which I won’t get into due to spoilers. There’s also the whole moral debate that these kids are being indoctrinated into the cycle of hatred by their home villages, so even the ones who do make the decision you’re referring to aren’t truly doing so of their own volition. Just bc there are army recruiters goading 17 year olds into signing up for military life by waiting outside the gym at high schools doesn’t mean that those same kids can then turn around and go drink. Because they’re children. They can’t have the foresight and experience to make decisions with long term consequences like that. Thats why we evolved to have parents who are supposed to make those kinds of decisions for us until we come of age. If a kid runs away from home, then yes, people will go and force them to return to their parents. Because children don’t typically have the agency to make those kinds of decisions. Abusive home environments and extenuating circumstances aside, of course. 12 year olds don’t get to make life-altering decisions for the foreseeable future dude. And nobody of any age should make that decision under intense emotional duress and desperation, anyway. Least of all not people like Sasuke, who, despite his feelings, has a support network of people like his sensei who cares for him and tries to talk sense into him, or his friend who keeps pushing him to grow, or the girl who constantly tries to get him to talk to her and open up all the time. There is absolutely no side of this where Sasuke is justified in any of these decisions. Hence why it falls on Naruto to slap some sense into him, bc that’s clearly what he needs All that being said, this is just going off of what we normally know about the situation in the show at the moment. Going any deeper into shit gets into spoiler territory, but with more info, shit might be different, you’re right. Sasuke doesn’t have any of that info at this moment. Which means he’s in the wrong, albeit still a victim, lashing out out of desperation and frustration. Like any 12 year old tends to do lol Tl;dr I disagree. But with more info you could be right tbh

2024-09-08 21:56:22 +0000 UTCSasuke cold as hell lol. I remember in the dub when Naruto reminds him of the homies who sacrificed themselves for him he said "good for them".

2024-09-08 05:25:59 +0000 UTCAMetalWorld - If he is old enough to choose to sacrifice his life for the village, then he is old enough to choose to sacrifice his life for his goal. Sasuke is making a choice based on the information given to him and his own experiences in the Leaf village. He knows Orochimaru is trying to take his body, and he is perfectly fine taking that risk to get his revenge. It is HIS choice. They are not trying to "bring him back", they are trying to force him back against his will.

2024-09-08 04:59:17 +0000 UTCJakob- Sasuke didn't just jump Naruto. He told Naruto he wanted to fight, and Naruto agreed to fight. And then their fight was broken up. His decision to leave was after that.

2024-09-08 04:38:18 +0000 UTCSasuke is 12-13 here. A child can’t make a conscious, informed decision. Sasuke was manipulated into giving his agency up by an old man who wanted his body, by essentially doping him. Children can’t consent fam. It’s not a “sasuke or Naruto” situation, Sasuke is a victim here, child soldier or not It’s rather fortunate that Tsunade is kind enough to try and bring him back at all, considering how most ninja deal with deserters, at any age

2024-09-07 22:15:33 +0000 UTCI’ve always kinda been on Sasuke’s side when it came to leaving. He made a conscious informed decision to leave on his own. He didn’t cause any issues on his way out. All the damage to the Leaf ninja was because they tried to force him to come home. He’s always told them what his goal was, and they just expect him to forget about it because they want him to stay. Doesn’t seem fair to Sasuke.
