Joffrey is supposed to stay in Vale with his baby dragon given the Lady Arryn had specified to Rhaenyra that she wanted a dragon at Vale to protect her if she was to commit soldiers to her cause. So, I think Joffrey and his dragon will stay in Vale but the two younger kids and Rhaena are to go to Pentos as wards (please correct me if it is incorrect!)

I donβt want to spoil anything if you arenβt familiar with the books but in the story Sunfyre is meant to have moreβ¦involvement in future events to come. However in the tv series it seems they killed him. When Cole gets asked about him he says βthe kings dragon was long in the dying.β Now to me that means he took a long time to die but eventually passed. However you could also interpret that line as he was still struggling to live for awhile when Cole left him. For now we have to leave him at TBD.

They are walking nuclear weapons and not to be taken lightly. According to Mysaria's logic, Rhaenyra's own half brothers who are legal Targaryen have gone against her but a common shipwright has bent the knee to her. Hence, invite the smallfolk to claim dragons. Another way of looking at it is - if your own half siblings cannot be loyal to you, what is the possibility that these random characters should be loyal to you? Especially if their dragons are bigger than Syrax, Vermax, Moondancer who are relatively smaller dragons? There is really no way to control someone once they have claimed a dragon, so this is something that is worth keeping an eye out for!

And yes, he is indeed Viserys' and Alicent's youngest child and son; the queen dowager couldn't possibly openly speak of a bastard child with her brother. In this world, it is customary to send sons to ward at the houses of other lords so that they may learn from them (education), or to build better relations between houses and families. In Game of Thrones, Ned Stark and Robert Baratheon were sent to the Eyrie as Jon Arryn's wards. Theon was a ward of Ned Stark, but he was more as a prisoner/hostage to keep his father in check to not start another rebellion against Robert. Peter Baelish was fostered at the Tully's as their ward, where he fell in love with Catelyn. I wish they had at least introduced Daeron by name in the first season, this is so confusing.

2024-07-30 01:12:32 +0000 UTCSo about Hugh claiming Vermithor it actually goes deeper than Vermithor respecting the hustle. Vermithor was the dragon of Jaeherys I (Viserys' grandfather who chose him at the Council to be the next King). Jaeherys had a daughter called Saera and they had a tough relationship because Saera liked to sleep around and she had a scandal where she got caught with three men and he became so furious that he banished her to be a Septa. But Saera escaped to Essos and became the madame of a pleasure house, which is where she presumably gave birth to Hugh. In his dying days, Jaeherys regretted how he handled the situation with his daughter and he started mistaking his caretaker (who happened to be Alicent) for Saera and thought she had come back home. So Vermithor choosing Hugh kind of feels like an act of reconciliation. Ironically though it's funny both Hugh and Jaeherys held contempt for what Saera so I guess that's another type of bonding.
