Did y’all miss where Ketil himself said the ‘iron fist’ thing was a lie because Viking people only respect strength? It’s towards the end of ep7 titled ‘iron fist ketil.’

He killed snakes guy cause they were attacking him. And yes he assumes that ketil is super evil like his master how would he know. He's just trying run with arnheid. Also there was a war over resources that doesn't make someone a bad person. It happens all the time. They just lost.

And we know that he wants to kill Ketil too even though he doesn't even know him personally. Gardar may have been a decent person in the past but decent people can also commit heinous acts. Killing other people for iron is savage however you wanna put it. They was living in another time back then but with the development of our societies, gains in general knowledge and understanding of other cultures today we can surely say that it was objectively wrong to go to war for that reason. And Arnheid confirmed that Gardar changed. It's not the pre-war Gardar that's getting hunted, it's a Gardar that has killed 10 people in the span of maybe a day and was plotting to kill even more that's getting hunted down.

He doesn't deserve to be hunted like an animal and tortued as a slave for years because of it. They were just unlucky and ambitious and yea all I want is arnheid to be happy, she can decide if that's with gardar or not. I'm just saying the community is acting like Gardar is the bad guy and it confuses me. His kills have been 100% self defense.

2023-04-26 09:28:18 +0000 UTCThis episode was beautiful. Out of all the anime I've ever watched, Vinland Saga has by far the best flashbacks. They are impactful even if they aren't relevant to the plot. Incredible writing. It's ironic how I've come to really appreciate this anime in the second season where there is much less action than in the first. Vinland Saga as of now is my favorite anime of all time together with Hunter x Hunter (2011), Legend of the galactic heroes and Code Geass.

If that one ambitious dude would have gotten the iron and offset the balance in power, that would have been more of a reason for the other villages to band together to stop him. There was no need to get the iron. I'm with Arnheid, she's really done nothing wrong in her life but keeps on suffering because of decisions of others. She deserves to get another shot at a peaceful family life and heal her mental scars.
