heetah said "facts" right when the fax machine was printing out that picture of Miyata getting KO'd. Great timing

The best part is, Miyata was screwed by Ippo's last second trap regardless. He got grazed in the chin because he was fast enough to get almost out of the way, but if Miyata didn't get hit in the chin, he would've eaten that uppercut full on.

I think that was the whole point. The chief wanted Ippo to beat Miyata in 3 months, so he had to skip a lot of stuff and teach him advanced techniques. And a hook might be the safer technique overall but it's not making full use of Ippos full body strength like an uppercut would. An uppercut allows him to knock out Miyata with one punch while a hook probably wouldn't have done the same.

I think it has to do with Ippo's size. He is a small dude, and my guess is that a uppercut comes easier than a hook would.
Just a thought :)

Am I the only one that feels like it was too early to teach him the upper cut? I mean, apparently he is a natural so it was no biggie and it was required for the story but I find an upper cut is quite hard. You have to be very precise and it has a completely different feeling for range compared to straight punches or hooks. He got monstrous power so hooks seem like the obvious choice since they require less technique and are easier to land. With that power he would still do damage through the guard. And body shots seem like a must in a match up like that, especially with that power.

The edit at 14:43 hahaha, can't believe Miyata took the L like that... it almost would have been better to take the full uppercut, Ippo made my guy beg 😭
