Also I think JJK is pretty fun, despite it's flaws. I'm enjoying the ride quite a bit, and the animation helps of course. But I do understand the frustration when you see lots of people saying that JJK is the best new shonen out there. Or even more - that it's evolution of shonen or shonen done right, like it wasn't before (I'm like stop) :D Same like it was with MHA a few years back. Nothing beats the kings of shonen battle manga that are HxH and One Piece. But I'm not really expecting for the new series to be that good to begin with. The biggest annoyance I have with JJK is character relationships are not developed enough. Quick example is Megumi accepting to fight to the death for Itadori near the beginning, like they were best friends already, after I dunno, like 5 days of being together? Where older series pretty much always did it right, or at least better. For example Naruto, say what you want about the series, at least Naruto and Sasuke spent quite a bit of time together, had few life and death situations together and survived, like comrades in arms, before Naruto feeling like Sasuke is his best friend and .. you know.. (not gonna say more for spoilers, just in case our guys decide to react to the series).

I disagree, but at the same time arguing is pointless, so I won't :D What I was trying to say was that it was a mixture of many Shonen battle manga and not solely HxH copy like you still think it is. It's clearly have taken inspiration from lots of works. I mean, it isn't even surprising, these new generation mangaka, grew up reading older series, while older series paved the way because there wasn't many battle manga that weren't monster of the week type of stuff. They created most of the stuff in the genre to the point where it's hard to stay truly original anymore, if not near impossible. At that point, if you seek originality, you need to come up with a different genre AND get lucky to get picked up by Shonen Jump as well. Because most truly out-there, experimental series, is not what sells, so SJ isn't really going to pick those.

the only way its similar to DBZ is the trash power dynamics where 1 minute goku is fighting cell then kid gohan defeats him lmao. just like in this show, nanami, a vet in the business struggling against a special grade, then these 2 highschoolers fighting on par with a special grade. shit dont make sense but its looks pretty so cool i guess. i dont even have to talk about the pacing cuz u alrdy know that. character development where? defeating enemies where? nah lets just have gojou come in and save everyone for the 4th time. buddy just cuz they switch up the time period doesnt make it not like hxh. thast like me copying someones homework but making it look a little diff. same thing. its hxh. same exact nen shit, literally to the detail. just cuz they are in school here vs gon was having an adventure does not give them the pass that its different lmao.

@Spree Watch more shonen? Definetely not, you're reaching way too hard. From a structure stand-point, the closest similair battle manga would be Dragon Ball Z - plot clips at a fast pace, and it's mostly about fighting (anime ruined the pacing), after fighting, for chapters on end. Setting wise this is urban fantasy, while HxH is fantasy, so again has little to do with it, this is more Yu Yu Hakusho (somewhat) and early Bleach (a lot). Because it has school stuff, early bleach is closest, but it can take inspiration from other battle mangas like Soul Eater that revolved around magical schools. Power system is a mix of things, but the most you can atrribute to it is JoJo's. But the same can be said for like all shonen that came after it. Like HxH itself (more so YuYu Hakusho first, which started more like DB, with martial arts and beams and after JoJo's took off with stands, introduced set abilities with rules with territory's in chapter black saga). And HxH itself expanded the idea further with Nen, which to me, is taken a lot of JRPG battle systems of the time (and we all know how Togashi loved his video games). JJK is a mix of more things, but I won't go into super analysis.
