I don't know about Ippo so I can't speak on it, I've been told to try it out so if ya'll end up doing that I definitely would take that journey with you. Haikyuu was the first time I stepped out of my genre preferences and bothered with a sports anime, and the hype was so worth it. Looking forward to the next journey either way!!

Ippo even though it starts kinda slow tho but the cast just grows on you, it's ridiculously inspiring and the fights have such a timeless quality to them since it's an OG Mappa studio show. Gotta cheer for the underdog bruh.

Haikyuu is better than ippo in the manga and anime to me...and I'm update with ippo and the manga is a chore to read right now...no recency bias here...haiku is pretty much the perfect sports anime. I'm saying this even tho I dropped it at one point and picked up again but I never dropped ippo.

Ippo manga might be better than Haikyuu manga although the ending arc for haikyuu was pure kino (I paused at ch 1100) but the anime for Haikyuu is much better up to a point.

Looks like it’s Haikyuu. It’s a fine series, I followed the manga till the last arc, but a tad disappointing since it’s a long running character drama that I don’t think is as great for reactions. You guys already do OP which is also great, but just too slow in progression for me to want to watch hundreds of episodes of. Would have preferred a shorter show with more concentrated hype like Geass, Abyss, Kill La Kill or F/Z or even Ippo which is long running but less monotonous. Hopefully you pick up next seasons of AoT or Rezero to add alongside Jujitsu

I guess I'm an oldtaku, but I think Ippo is by far, a wayyyyy better sports series than Haikyuu, This is from the manga point of view. Haikyuu is good, don't get me wrong, but I think it's reaping the benefits of the recency effect and modern production values. Ippo is a little older, so it had less shiny character designs and looks a little dated, but so did One Piece. And story counts for almost everything in my books. Ippo is 8 years older (1989) than One Piece and has 1300 chapters. Unfortunately the Ippo anime only has 129 episodes and only goes up to chapter 414.

Haikyuu is unironically the best thing in this list, the other shows mostly have EDGY GRIM DARK or SUPER FLASHY FIGHT as their main appeal. Although one day I hope you guys check out Gintama. That said, the newest season of Haikyuu is pretty bottom tier.

Gonna have to give the vote to Dorohedoro on this one. My favorite manga of all time. First season's short and sweet, great cast of characters, nice blend of bloody action and comedy... Animation by MAPPA... Solid all around and good setup for future seasons. Shame not that many have reacted to it. I love a lot of the series on this poll, but it really sucks seeing awesome, lesser known shows get shafted all the time.
