He actually never dies; That's the whole point. The "truth" is his death and he will never reach it. Instead he is brought to the brink of death over and over again.

From the moment the hobo stabs him and he/Divaolo dies he will keep dying in every imaginable way possible forever but also respawn somewhere randomly when he “dies” again just to die some more. “Never reaching the truth” behind his own death, the ultimate fuck you to the guy, who cheated fate with his abilities.

Diavolo didn't experience the very end of his "true" death but his soul was still alive during his autopsy and then he gets put in the loop. The whole ending of part 5 since Chariot Requiem is confusing lol

It’s a strange story, but once you understand it, it ties into the story and theme of Part 5 perfectly. Honestly, it makes JoJo even more unique when it comes to anime!
