DEM Chapter 11: The True Face of the System!
Added 2025-07-17 14:44:51 +0000 UTC"Ha ha, I never imagined I'd snag the MVP. My skills are beyond what I expected!"
After sweeping away all competitors, Su Yuan couldn't help but feel a bit smug.
Of course, this didn't mean his combat prowess was the best in the entire school. Most of the prominent figures at school were too lazy to get involved in the cafeteria skirmishes.
Take Class Two, for example. Someone like Chen Nuoyi, a prodigy, could easily crush all competition, but she always took her time heading to the cafeteria.
Even someone as capable as Chu Lanxi would rather have friends grab his food than dive into the fray herself.
Not to mention, plenty of well-off students didn't even eat cafeteria food, opting to dine out or order takeout instead.
The thought of takeout made Su Yuan click his tongue in frustration.
He couldn't deliver food during school hours, which was such a shame. Otherwise, he could have made a fortune off those students who threw money around like it was nothing.
Still, Su Yuan's progress was undeniable.
Just as he clutched his meal card, gleefully heading toward the cafeteria doors to savor the fruits of his victory, a towering figure suddenly blocked his path.
Before Su Yuan could process what was happening, the figure extended an arm thicker than Su Yuan's thigh, grabbed him by the back of his collar, and hoisted him up like a helpless chick.
"Teacher Zhuge?"
Staring at Zhuge Tie's grim, steely expression, Su Yuan was utterly baffled.
What was going on? Had he ever provoked this PE teacher?
"You little punk, swinging that stick pretty fast, huh?"
Zhuge Tie gritted his teeth, each word squeezing out through clenched jaws, clearly furious.
"The cafeteria battle is a test of speed, and you resort to such sneaky tricks to win! You're practically tarnishing the spirit of sports!"
Su Yuan: "..."
What the heck? How did this have anything to do with sportsmanship?
Was there a rule saying you could only race to secure a spot in the cafeteria?
And stopping him right at the finish line, wasn't that a foul?
Watching the students he'd just outrun now overtaking him and charging into the cafeteria, Su Yuan's heart sank. He quickly unleashed his three-part plea, "Teacher Zhuge, it's the middle of the day. Since we're here, how about we eat first?"
"No way. You're going to the field right now and running ten laps under my supervision! I'll make you understand what sportsmanship means."
Zhuge Tie's tone was icy, completely unmoved by Su Yuan's attempt at diplomacy, leaving him stunned.
But just then, a cold laugh rang out from nearby, "Teacher Zhuge, you're ranting about your boring sportsmanship again? Grabbing my dear student and keeping him from eating just to satisfy your own whims, that's hardly the behavior of a proper teacher."
Su Yuan and Zhuge Tie turned toward the voice and saw a stunning female teacher in a tight-fitting combat suit approaching with graceful steps.
"Teacher Li?"
It was none other than Li Ziquan, the Martial Arts teacher for Senior Year Class Two.
What puzzled Su Yuan was that Teacher Li had always been indifferent toward him. Why was she stepping in to bail him out now?
"Teacher Li, this has nothing to do with you."
Zhuge Tie set Su Yuan back on the ground, his tone firm and unyielding.
Li Ziquan crossed her arms, first giving Su Yuan a fond glance before turning to Zhuge Tie with a look of disdain, as if he were trash, "Nothing to do with me? The brilliance of Su Yuan's martial technique just now is something few senior-year students could match. Yet you're nitpicking because he used martial arts to win first place in the cafeteria rush? Are you looking down on Martial Arts?"
"Let's be real, sports is just mindlessly lifting weights to get a perfect score, right? It's completely different from sophisticated subjects like Martial Arts or cultivation techniques."
Su Yuan got it. Teacher Li must have seen his exquisite stick technique, no, fork technique, and developed an appreciation for his talent.
Great, he wasn't alone anymore.
Hearing Li Ziquan's words, veins bulged on Zhuge Tie's forehead, "What did you say? Sports isn't as simple as you make it out to be. Who are you, an outsider, to lecture me?"
The two teachers, unable to see eye to eye, immediately launched into a heated war of words.
If passing students weren't so eager to grab their food in the cafeteria, a crowd of onlookers would have surely gathered to watch the spectacle.
Caught between the two teachers, Su Yuan didn't dare move, terrified of becoming their target.
He gazed longingly at the increasingly packed cafeteria, his eyes filled with reluctance.
Farewell, limited-edition dishes. Farewell, my glory as the cafeteria's top dog!
No, he couldn't give up yet.
Suddenly, a spark flashed in Su Yuan's mind. Though he was stuck with these two teachers, Chu Lanxi should be arriving soon. If he could get his to grab food for him, there might still be a chance to snag some limited-edition dishes.
Scanning the crowd, Su Yuan quickly spotted his "good son" at the cafeteria entrance.
He discreetly waved at Chu Lanxi with the smallest gesture.
Chu Lanxi seemed to sense something and glanced toward Su Yuan.
Su Yuan's heart leaped, ready to signal his with his eyes, but Chu Lanxi swiftly turned his head away, acting as if it had nothing to do with his, and blended into the crowd entering the cafeteria.
Damn it, ignored! Was he afraid of getting caught by the teachers standing next to him?
So much for loyalty!
Su Yuan rolled his eyes in frustration.
Just then, a sudden "ding-dong" echoed in his mind.
[Oh ho, on just your first day infiltrating the Taihua Sect, two righteous sect elders have fallen for your disguised yasashii charm? You're truly a wicked demon!]
What the heck? Hadn't the system deemed this world an ancient cultivation era? Who would even understand "yasashii"?
Besides, all he wanted was to use his skills to get to the cafeteria faster. These two teachers had blocked him for their own reasons. What did that have to do with yasashii? Had the system's slander evolved to the point of being completely illogical?
[Due to your exceptional talent, two sect elders are eager to nurture you further. This is your chance to infiltrate the upper echelons of the Taihua Sect.]
[Villain Task Updated]
[Task: Righteous Disciple]
[As a demon who thrives on deception, adopt the guise of a devout student. Navigate between these two sect elders, extract their knowledge, and deepen their trust in you.]
[Task Progress: Martial Arts Elder Favorability (105/80), Body Refining Elder Favorability (50/80)]
Oh ho, a classic favorability system?
Martial Arts Elder and Body Refining Elder must refer to the Martial Arts teacher and the PE teacher.
So why was Teacher Li's favorability toward him so high? It was practically off the charts!
The task had just been issued, and he was already halfway done.
Not that it was a bad thing. The sooner he completed the task, the sooner he'd get the rewards.
So, what were the rewards for this task?
Given the system's track record of top-notch rewards, he'd let that earlier slight slide.
Su Yuan eagerly scrolled down to check the newly revealed task rewards, only for his gaze to freeze.
[Task Reward: Ancient Corpse Refining Technique]
There must be some mistake. Let him look again.
Nope, no mistake. That was the reward.
Not a single word was wrong!
It seemed this wretched system could no longer hide its true colors. All those previous tasks were just bait to lure him in. This was the real face of the villain system!
And to think, this system had the nerve to slander him earlier. This wasn't over!
