DEM Chapter 5: Su Yuan, You Are a Born Demon

In a single morning, aside from the top-tier delivery elites with eighth or ninth-layer Qi Refining cultivation, those at the level of the Four Emperors of the delivery world, all other righteous prodigies were forked down by Su Yuan at the gates of Feiyun Neighborhood.

Dozens, perhaps hundreds, of delivery workers who fell at Feiyun Neighborhood etched Su Yuan’s name into their memories, quickly spreading his reputation throughout Taihua City’s delivery community.

With his ruthless efficiency, showing no mercy even to female delivery workers and settling battles with a single fork, Su Yuan earned a fearsome title that sent chills down spines.

[Mad Forking Demon]

Following Security Wang’s reign, Feiyun Neighborhood now boasted another security demon, a dual supreme! The delivery world deemed it an absolute forbidden zone!

The Four Emperors of the delivery world sighed, lamenting why the security realm produced such talent while the delivery world saw no prodigies emerge.

As the delivery world wallowed in gloom, with the righteous path waning and the demonic rising, a new delivery worker suddenly burst onto the scene at noon that day!

One by one, security systems deemed impregnable by countless delivery workers were breached!

Qionghua Tower, Jindi Neighborhood, Bixin Gardens… which of these companies or communities didn’t have renowned security powerhouses guarding them?

Though slightly less formidable than Feiyun’s Security Wang, they were not far behind.

This new delivery prodigy, who emerged at noon, was soon compared to Security Su Yuan, who had dominated Feiyun Neighborhood that morning.

Scholars believed that righteousness and demonic energy were balanced: when demonic energy surged, the righteous path would inevitably produce geniuses.

Unlike the high-profile Security Su Yuan, this new delivery prodigy kept a low profile, their name still unknown.

Many eagerly anticipated what dazzling sparks would fly if this nameless prodigy clashed with Feiyun’s Su Yuan!

Eight p.m.

Having survived the evening delivery rush, Su Yuan returned to his role as Feiyun Neighborhood’s security guard.

Reflecting on his delivery experiences from morning to evening rush, Su Yuan could only describe it as thrilling.

Thanks to his mastery of the Eighteen Divine Pitchfork Forms, despite being only at the fifth layer of Qi Refining, he could escape unscathed from eighth and ninth-layer security powerhouses.

With generous customer tips, though he only delivered for half the time compared to yesterday, he still earned a solid nine hundred yuan.

“But am I being a bit shady here?”

Su Yuan felt a bit guilty. He’d learned his skills from Security Uncle Wang, yet turned around and used them against security cultivators.

Did that make him a traitor to the security world?

This was why he kept a low profile while delivering.

But in this information age, he could hide for a moment, not forever. Su Yuan felt it was only a matter of time before he was exposed.

What face would he show Uncle Wang then?

Lost in thought, Su Yuan forked down another delivery guy and sighed.

Who would’ve thought, so young, he’d be walking the line between righteousness and the demonic path, his heart tormented!

Maybe the system was right, he was a born demon skilled at manipulating hearts.

Thankfully, money and task progress soothed his fragile soul.

[Villain Task: Seize Others’ Opportunities (In Progress)]

[Task Progress: 7/10]

Though it was tough, he’d met his three-meal-loss quota for the day.

[Villain Task: Rule a Domain (In Progress)]

Through word-of-mouth from the delivery guys he’d forked, Su Yuan’s reputation kept rising.

At this rate, even working just night shifts, he could hit 1000 reputation in two or three days and complete the task.

“Steady progress!”

Su Yuan closed the system panel, a smile tugging at his lips. “I’ll grow quietly and then stun everyone!”

The third day, the final day of the Spiritual Energy Resurgence Memorial holiday.

The lunch delivery rush had just begun, and Su Yuan, brimming with enthusiasm and loaded with orders, was ready to dive in when a street broadcast interrupted.

“Attention, residents of Taihua City. A water dragon is passing over the city. The meteorological department’s cultivators are already driving it away, but this event will trigger a blue-level rainstorm warning.”

“Please take rain precautions. Thank you for your cooperation.”

Su Yuan looked up. The once-clear sky darkened in mere moments, a long, shadowy shape flickering through the clouds, occasionally lit by flashes of light.

Residents on flying swords or riding spiritual pets hurried home.

Su Yuan frowned. He’d already accepted so many orders; bailing now wouldn’t do.

He’d only “lost” one meal this morning, leaving him two short of completing the opportunity-seizing task. Better push through!

He sped up, quickly picking up and delivering orders.

Meanwhile, a torrential downpour began, soon flooding the streets.

Twenty minutes later, after finishing a round of deliveries and reporting one meal loss, Su Yuan was one step away from completing the newbie task.

He hesitated: should he push through and “lose” another meal to finish the task now, or wait until evening?

While pondering, he flew to an old neighborhood with no delivery lockers or security and made a delivery.

He was about to fly off to the next order when, out of the corner of his eye, he spotted something familiar.

At the base of a building’s steps, battered by wind and rain, was a delivery.

The packaging was flimsy, torn open by the storm, with rainwater soaking the meal box and bag, making it look like discarded trash.

Su Yuan paused, landed by the delivery, and glanced at the soggy receipt, raising an eyebrow.

Good grief, this delivery was stacked with red flags!

Pinhau meal, pre-made dish, trendy packaging, SpongeBob utensils, and a store name betting its career on XXX.

Even if it wasn’t soaked, Su Yuan wouldn’t dare eat it.

Who knew what kind of high-tech nastiness was in there? Even a Qi Refining cultivator would be sprinting a mile after eating it!

From the order time on the receipt, it had likely been delivered just before the rain, and the owner, delayed by the storm, hadn’t retrieved it.

“If I destroy this toxic delivery, would that count as seizing an opportunity?”

The thought popped into Su Yuan’s head.

He figured no one would want this delivery now, and eating it would be worse than not eating at all. Disposing of it could be considered a good deed…

Alright, fine, he just wanted to clear the task, no excuses.

Seeing no one around, Su Yuan steeled himself, grabbed the delivery, and tossed it into a nearby trash bin.

As the delivery sank into the bin’s filthy water, a pleasant chime rang in his ears.

Task completed?

[Detected that the Host performed a righteous act despised by the demonic path. Warning issued!]

What the hell!
