in a better translation gon says "I'll use all the power I'll ever have" instead of "I'll have to use everything"

You really should have used "Goku going Super Saiyan" as the parallel. There's a reason why Soul Vs. Soul is the theme for Gohan SSJ2 in the original Japanese: it's also supposed to be a sad scene - though I guess, happier than this. Decades of Linkin Park AMVs have diluted that, though.

What is it with Togashi with having characters either losing or having damage to the arms?😅

What's even sadder was his one line after Pitou took Gon's arm. He mentioned that now he's the same as Kite, both of which lost their right arm by Pitou.

He can't decide who's at fault for killing Kite, so he ends up getting angry at himself and Pitou. He thinks that by letting himself get hurt and by mercilessly killing Pitou he can feel better about himself.

Gon may be at his strongest at this point in the show, but emotionally? He's completely at his lowest. The light in him is a shadow of what it was.

Episode 131 is my #1 favorite episode & I'm glad you guys finally got to see this glorious episode.
Paulius Paulius pretty much said it best what Gon did.
Gon didn't care about his life, finding his dad, or how Mito or Killua would react to what he was doing to himself here.
And normally its a wonderful good moment when a character reaches like a new form or transformation, like for example Gohan going Super Saiyan 2, but in this case?
It wasn't a happy moment at all.
Especially when you know once you reach this point of the series that one doesn't get such great power without some drawbacks to it.
Look at Kurapika. He's definitely strong because of the conditions he placed on himself but it comes with a big price though.

SPEECHLESS MOMENT HERE

It is meant to be sad moment and not a happy one

Its not that he put condition on his life to avenge Kite. The condition was his life, his entire talent and ability. He said he didn't care about what happens so he took all the potential, all hes future power and life years and made a pledge to get this power up just for now to be able defeat Pitou. Now it means that all his potential and future life is lost and he just might wither and die very slowly and painfully after this.

Pretty sure the long hair represents the time it would have took to reach the level Gon-San achieved
