If there was one heartbreaking thing I discovered while playing Persona 5 several years after it came out is that the "three main guys" behind the direction, characters, and music had moved on from P Studio (the team behind the Persona series).
I had played the original Persona back in the late 90's and thought it was mildly interesting, but did not finish it, and had not given it much thought afterward. So much so, that I never even knew that it had become a series! Persona 5 was the first I had heard about it again, and I certainly wasn't initially interested in checking it out because I had not had the strongest of impressions all those years ago.
One of the fun things about playing Persona 5 were all the little things that I did recall from the original game still existing in a modern form in the fifth entry. It was nice to have that foundation and context to say "hey, I remember that thing or feature or creature!"
When I learned that the "three main guys" sort of modernized the series into what Persona 5 became so well known and famous for beginning with Persona 3 and then more so in Persona 4, I became very excited. Since then I have purchased Persona 4 on Steam (currently the easiest way to access it) but am holding off so I don't "overdose on Persona" lol.
My hope is that even if I boarded "this train" after the key players have left, that they will still be able to create magic in the inevitable sixth entry in the series. I, like many people, eagerly await whatever announcements Atlus makes this year, as they celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Persona series.
