It was futile. She never should have let them get so close. Let them surround her. Let them get their rotten hands on her. From that moment, the fight was too frenetic, too frenzied, too exhausting. And that was the problem. Even as the lean muscles in Ada's arms and legs began to wearily give out, the creatures, these monsters, never seemed to flag. They tirelessly overpowered the struggling operative.
She fired off a couple poorly aimed shots that lodged into the stone work of the Basement, but nowhere near their intended target. And as such, the abominations brough Ada to the ground. Their gnashing teeth fiercely went to work on her supple pink flesh. In her recklessness, she had failed her mission. The G-Virus would remain lost.

"The operative has failed once again," relayed Annette into a walkie talkie to person unknown, as she watched dispassionately of the nightmarish events unfolding on a flickering old monitor.
"Try again," ordered the cryptic voice.
"The subject is showing signs of her awareness of the Program," Annette pushed back.
"Is there a problem?" the voice queried.
Annette was silent.
"Do we need to get someone else down there to get the job done?" threatened the voice.
"...Negative. I will increase the dosage on the subject. Miss Meadows will not break through the Program. Operation Ada will continue as outlined. I will make sure she outmaneuvers the Residents, and acquires the G-Virus," the scientist steeled her voice.
"Good. Do not fail me, Annette."
