As you wait for your mom you crouch down, wanting to ease the pain in your legs but not wanting to mess up your skirt by sitting in the dirt. You rest your hands on your knees as you stay crouched, finding some small comfort in feeling the silky material on your palms, everything else here seems so rough and dangerous, it’s nice to feel the familiar soft touch of your pantyhose. Your mom finally makes it to the top and you reach out your hand to help her up the last hurdle. The two of you smile at each at having completed this small challenge, an endeavor that no doubt would hardly be noticed by a man familiar with the jungle like your tour guide. For you and your mom however it’s worth celebrating, your hands quickly brushing off some dirt from your fall, making yourself look presentable again before setting off.

Jungle perils are some of my all time favorite from the classic pulp era. Additionally I blame Sierra games Leisure Suit Larry 3, specifically Passionate Patti, for inspiration in this sequence. Last year, I commissioned a story from Markus Jones exploring jungle themes I enjoyed, featuring Emily Lockwood and her mother, Lynda. The story was an extension or "what if" path from the CYOA Deadly Horizons (in the Tanzania location), which was the (unexpected) surprise return of Emily Lockwood after a three year hiatus. The following renders were created by me inspired by the extended story they wrote for me. I hope you enjoy the excerpt text and the images!
