"Becky! Why have you not been answering your phone? I have been calling you all day!"

"Sorry, cousin! We aren't allowed to have our phones in school."

"Well, we aren't either, but you don't see that stopping me! And you can stop it right now. I can hear your eye roll."

"Good, because I was totally eye rolling you right now. We're not all the illustrious Dawn Meadows at the pristine Ivy Ridge Academy."

"Oh you are so dead the next time I see you---" Dawn stopped in her threat, unable to keep a straight face any longer. She burst out laughing into the phone. Her cousin Becky Carter caught the same bug, and the infectious laughter got to her too. Soon both teenagers were laughing until their belly's hurt into the phone.

"Seriously though, how was it?" Becky asked, wiping away at her laughing tears.

"Oh my God, it's amazing. I mean, I don't even know where to begin. It's the Rose Tribune! I'm actually interning at the Rose Tribune! I'm like, the real deal! I'm a big time reporter. I mean, I'm like, gonna be a star reporter!" Dawn gushed.

"Really!? That is so amazing. I mean, I'm totally not surprised. If anyone was going to do it in the family, it was totally gonna be you, cousin," beamed Becky.

"Thanks, Beck. I can always count on you," smiled Dawn.

"So it's totally awesome?" Becky pushed for details.

"Yeah, I mean, it totally is. Or, I mean, it's mostly awesome," Dawn paused.

"Dawn, you're doing that thing."

"What thing? What are you talking about?"

"That thing. Don't act like you don't know. That thing. You are doing that thing when you aren't telling me everything that's going on inside that head of yours. I know you. You're not telling me something," Becky pressed, the budding reporter showing signs of life inside her own self.

"Fine," sighed Dawn, resigning herself to Becky's intuition. "I mean, it's mostly amazing... but, I dunno, there's just some stuff that feels a little unfair."

"Like what?" pressed Becky, curiosity blooming.
