Operation Ada: Part I (5 of 8)

Fear is a great motivator. Fear can grow stronger than pain. Ada hated feeling helpless; resented the sensation. She needed her gun. She needed to feel that cold steel that held the key to her protection. She needed that sense of power in her hand. And so she grit her teeth against the pain and lunged forward toward the weapon.

It was noble, brash, impulsive, and with her brain saturated by neurons all firing off on pain, just a little too clumsy. Ada sort of threw her slender body at the pistol, and her little ball of energy was just a little too eager. She was just a little too urgent, and wrapped up in her too tight red dress, she collided with the decaying shins of the shambling corpse that swayed above her. Her soft pink flesh smacked into the decomposing grey and yellow rot with a sickening squelching sound and down it toppled upon her in a morbid heap.

"Eeeeeyyyyyaaaack!!!" exclaimed Ada, her movements taking on the form of a cat viscerally reacting to the act of being unwillingly held. Her bare arms and slender stocking bearing legs scrabbled against the derelict floor boards as weight of undead moving flesh pressed down upon her body.

The gun, where's the gun? Oh my GOD, where's the GUN!?!? Ada's mind reeled as she thrashed beneath the weight of the rotting creature atop her. In her impulsive lunge and the calamitous chaotic collision, the gun had gotten lost in the shuffle.

"Rrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaannnnnggghhhhhnnnn!!!"

Ada felt bony rotten arms slithering around her slim waist, pawing at the satin red folds of her cocktail dress. The smell that hit her nostrils made her stomach clench, and threatened to make her vomit. Craning her neck she saw the creature scrabbling on her back, putrid arms embracing her in a death grip. She gasped in horror. Her stocking feet spastically slipped and slid as they slapped against the floor. She scratched the skin on her elbow and fingertips as she fought with frenetic frenzy the fight for flight to flee a frightful fate.
