Who and Why?

Is it a certain way they act? A certain event? Similar interests? Or just appearance? Just what is it about that character that makes your heart swoon?
Saying all of them is valid, but I'm still looking for why too!
Outside of ExcA, what are some other characters you really like? Why? Just appearances or more like from the questions above?

To be honest, Harold and Spencer share the same spot in my heart, but if I had to choose only one, that would be my beloved Papa Bear. That man won my heart when I first started reading ExCA, first because of his looks, of course, cuz I love a big and strong bear, but soon as I started reading, and when the new udpdates came, I just fell in love with him I relate a lot to his problems, at least some of then, so, this made things easier for me to get more and more invested on his route. He deals with a lot, and sometimes, he seems to be a lot, but not to me, cuz he's just a man who needs and deserves help, support and love, and I'm ready to give it to him, like someone else did to me when I needed it too I just love the way you write them, how him and MC work around their issues, also how dumb they can be while in love, cuz I still don't understand their line of thought during certain parts of the route haha I remember when I first finished all the updates you had posted, which wasn't a lot at the time, I couldn't bring myself to read the other routes, cuz I didn't want to leave my Papa Bear alone with his problems. Took me a few months to try Spencer's and Darius' cuz of that hahaha So, yeah, the big, sweet, handsome, strong and lovely bear, Harold Grifter, is my favorite ❤

2025-06-16 12:01:32 +0000 UTCI don't think I mentioned it when I responded first, but the "will you be my boyfriend" conversation that everyone else had somehow ascended Darius beyond my wildest expectations. I'm actually damn near in tears over this one admitting that he's finally caught the dreaded feelings. He's not the smoke show that Richard or Chester were, he doesn't have the innate advantages that Harold (fat bear) and Spencer (best friend) have, and he's not the sheer beefcake that Dozer and Dwayne are. But I've been supporting this story off and on for most of the development cycle and he's mostly just a headache when he's onscreen. Seeing him come around on this is...special. I noted your parting message that he was a pain to write for as well lol. I have a feeling I know why you wrote him to be so...forceful in other boyfriend's routes, but I'd like to hear your own reasons for making Darius the way he is.

Because of all the little things that he does, like how during his route he is the one that helps the player in both getting him a job and a place to stay so much faster than most of the other guys, and not to mention just how much of a needed pillar of support he is to the player on all the routes, because of that, I can really feel just how strong the connection between the two of them is and just how much he truly cares for the player, even when playing through the other guys’ routes. Then even beyond that connection, there were so many other little things that I just found cute about him, from how nervous he was to open up and admit that he was gay at the beginning of his route to the fact that he’s able to top or bottom, how playful he could get when he could finally relax and be just himself, or even just seeing that big adorable smile he gets by being with and talking to the player; all of it made him just feel so irresistible to me that he jumped all the way up to my number one favorite spot.

2025-05-18 20:41:29 +0000 UTCHarold is, and continues to be, my favorite part of ExA. He is adorable, sexy, and down to earth with just the right level of believability in his writing and character. There are a few times in the main story and the epilouge that I just want to hug him. A close second would be Chester as he is just a loveable dork and I wish I had a friend like him in real life. That isn't to say the other characters aren't well written; I just gravitate toward these two characters over the others. Spencer has a wonderful story but the jealousy and best friends to lovers trope never works for me, Richard is a doting father with a kinky streak that is just sexy, Dwayne is loveable and Dozer is just a big strong Kaiju softie (still haven't played Darius' route). Your characters are crafted in a way that feel very real and I love love how the dialouge (both internal and external) flow with the story beats showing enough without being info-dumps. I love the entire package but Harold will always take 1st place for me
