Update 2:
Coming up on 72 hours since Milton roared through. Most of the power in my community has been restored (not mine yet) and the power company has said that the majority of the county should be restored by midnight. Cable (internet) on the other hand…well, let’s just say you can set a sun dial by how responsive they are.
Tomorrow’s (and probably the rest of the week’s) post will be delayed until… Uh-huh. Yep. I’m having to do everything via sketchy cell hotspot.
On the upside, I got the front yard cleaned up yesterday. The backyard…not so much. The pile of debris in front of the house (from just the front yard) is 5ft tall and 30ft long (1.5m x 10m).

Update:
Ahh yes…welcome to sunny-ish Florida and the joyous sound of generators a-whirling’.
The power went out about 9pm last night…and I said to hell with the storm , put in some ear plugs, and went to sleep about 3am. The power and (cable) internet are out this morning…cell (obviously) still works.
No major damage in my area that i’ve seen thus far. I could probably clean up the front yard with a leaf blower once it dries out….the back yard, not so much.

“I believe you have my staplerâ€, inquired Milton before threatening to set the building on fire. :P :D
Yep, here we go again. …and again, this ain’t my first rodeo.
Milton is project to hit the center of the state late Wednesday night as a Cat 3 and pass more or less over my house Thursday morning as a Cat 2. I’ve had plenty of stuff stocked up, all left over from Helene and the whole lot of nothing we got from it the week before.
As for patreon posts, I have the remainder of this week covered, however, none of them will include stories or additional content…I just haven’t had the time. Next week, however, all bets are off…they are projecting widespread power and connectivity outages. Personally, I have whole house generator, but it won’t do me any good if I don’t have reliable internet access.

Yeah, I got the same problem. Ya blow a whole bunch of smoke into the neighbor's yard bcs the wind shifted and ya'd think they thought youse was trying to burn down a forest. Of course I don't know how big your backyard is, or if you have a corner to spare, but with winter coming soon you could stack the larger pieces and split them later and keep them for some outdoor pit fires in the evening while enjoying a beer or two, that's what wifey does, minus the beer (coffee). When the big pecan tree died 10 years ago we got 5 cords out of it and we still have one and a half left. Something to think about as opposed to lugging it all out to the curb for pick up. Anyways good luck and stay safe.

2024-10-17 09:12:21 +0000 UTCIf I were in my old house up in Putnam county (in the stix) nobody would care if I did. Here, in suburbia-ish…not so much.

2024-10-16 19:27:18 +0000 UTCYAY, so now all ya gotta worry about is the back yard, after they pick up the pile from the front yard. Too bad ya can't pile it in the street and just burn it. Good luck and stay safe.

2024-10-14 17:32:00 +0000 UTCBatten down the hatches and hunker down and stay as safe as possible. We'll be here after you get settled back in. But we'll be hoping for the best and that you have little to deal with. Good luck and stay safe.
