Third Person POV
Egghead.
...
...
Things were finally starting to calm down on the island, while the soldiers, the vice admirals, and even Admiral Kizaru were all taken into custody, with the higher-ups like the vice admirals and the admiral himself imprisoned inside the Black Pearlâs brig, in the same place where he was still keeping the CP0 agents along with York.
Luffy had to deal with them, but there were other things requiring his attention. At the same time, on the ship, everyone was working to try to save Saint Venus, whose spirit had been shattered.
Thanks to Kumaâs Paw-Paw Fruit, he managed to remove the impurities and the wounded state of the soul, creating a huge ball filled with evil red lightning.
That was launched into the sky and exploded outside the island, generating a massive blast, even creating a sort of storm from how malevolent that force was.
Still, there were more problems, with Lami tending to the physical wounds with Chopper, who was creating recovery pills for the Tenryuubito.
âCaptain...â Luffy heard a voice while he stood on the deck of the ship, parked in one of the corners with his arms crossed.
The ship was still sitting in the middle of the crater from the battle between him and the King/Queen of the world that had taken place. He saw it was Hugo approaching him.
âWhatâs bothering you, Hugo?â Luffy replied in a somewhat curt tone.
âThat woman, captain... sheâs one of our enemies. Sheâll die soon. I thought you didnât have to tolerate her. Especially when she was a vessel for one of those disgusting beings...â Hugo said in a serious tone full of hatred.
Hugo remembered Saturnâs words... As if his quest for revenge over what happened to his family was something he had no right to. That he had to accept the death of his late wife and daughter.
Luffy raised an eyebrow at him. âIâm tolerating, Hugo.â Thatâs what he said.
âBut still, I think itâs dangerous to keep her. Even though I said I didnât care and accepted your judgment in bringing her into the crew... captain, after what happened, I canât ignore it and say nothing...â he said.
âDonât worry, Hugo. I really didnât care. But what I saw today made me change my mind about her. Either way, Iâll stand by my decision and keep her safe, even if sheâs naturally from the people weâre going to destroy. Iâll have a more clarifying talk with her once she gets better.â Luffy spoke in a serious tone, while Hugo, in the end, simply nodded.
It was at that moment that a large body began to emerge from inside the shipâit was Kuma himself, taking heavy steps, while a little girl, 12-year-old Bonney herself, walked beside him.
âDad... youâre still there, arenât you?â she murmured nervously, while Kuma stopped and looked at her, nodding his head.
âYes, daughter.â he replied, leaving her surprised despite the voice still being a bit robotic and emotionless. Even Luffy, who was nearby on the deck, raised an eyebrow.
âDad...â she began to murmur, while tears immediately started flowing from her eyes.
But Kuma didnât respond. He simply began to fall backward, crashing directly onto the wooden deck again. He was badly injured. Luffy didnât know exactly what had happened to him before coming here, but it looked like he had already taken damage before the fight.
âDad, are you okay?! Iâll call Dr. Vegapunk!â she murmured in a desperate tone.
This girl always wanted to be tough, but right now she was just a child.
âHe looks fine, just tired. Something you should be too, Bonney.â Luffy approached, while she looked at him.
âHow can I rest?! Heâs here now! We can fix him, right?! We can bring him back!â she demanded like a daughter searching for a cure for her father, understandably.
âFirst, have something,â Luffy said, pulling out a chunk of meat from the system, the same size he used to give to Lucy.
While the little girl shook her head, âIâm not taking care of my dad in there,â she demanded, but her stomach soon betrayed her, letting out a loud growl.
Luffy made the meat disappear and grabbed a pizza box, opening it. âFirst regain your strength, then weâll take care of your dad, okay?â he said, while Bonney just stared, hesitating for a moment, but then took the food without leaving her fatherâs side, her cheeks a bit flushed.
In the end, she began to grab the box and started devouring everything there, with her father beside her, even while Luffy stacked up another pile of pizza boxes for her, knowing that the girlâs appetite was just as big as her sisterâs.
Vegapunk came out a moment later, while Luffy didnât even let the girl talk to him first, so she could keep focusing on recovering her strength.
âIâm going to transfer the island to my territory now, okay?â Luffy said, as Vegapunk nodded.
âI understand... we can start now,â he said in the end.
Besides Kuma having removed all the corrupted part of Saint Venusâs soul, her soul still needed to be restored. So, Vegapunk used a fragment of the Mother Flame to re-energize the Tenryuubitoâs spirit, at Luffyâs request.
âYou can go ahead. Letâs start moving the citizens back to the city. They wonât be pleased, but thereâs nothing we can do about the cityâs destruction,â declared Vegapunk.
âAll right, Lami.â Luffy spoke, as Lami approached, already hearing what her captain wanted. She had just finished the first treatment on the blonde and began bringing everyone back to the city, with them trying to salvage what they could from all the destruction.
Most of that destruction had been caused by Luffyâs fight with Imu.
Luffy ended up meeting up with Bepo and Carrot, needing the two of them.
âBepo, get ready to lift the islands. Weâre heading to the territory. Meanwhile, Carrot, I want you to come with me. Weâre going to distribute newspapers,â he said, while each of the minks there did their part.
The island, with the power of Bepoâs Fuwa Fuwa no Mi, began to rise from the ground a moment later, ascending into the sky, heading toward the Wano territory.
Luffy had to admit that the population wasnât as furious as heâd imagined they would be, considering they had been the targets of several attacks trying to kill them, and even a Buster Call had been issued to destroy the islandâand the pirates were the ones who saved them.
The island soon disappeared from that region between the clouds, while Luffy headed to a part of the ship, and thanks to the images taken of the battle by Vegapunkâs devices, a printer began to churn out multiple copies of newspapers. He returned to Carrot.
âThereâs not much space here, so youâll have to distribute them as they come out of the printer...,â he said, and she nodded.
He moved to her back and touched her, starting to multiply the power of the portal fruit within her to reach all of the New World and even parts of the Blues.
Quickly, she began opening portals, grabbing each newspaper as they came out at high speed, reaching even thousands per minute.
Carrot had the portal fruit, which allowed her to connect one place to another by creating magical blue circles in space as she visualized point A to point B. When Luffy first showed this fruit, Nami was outraged by the possibilitiesâit could be used to steal from others in an instant.
And the fruit already had quite a large range naturally in how it could function, but Carrot had expanded it even more with her mastery and power.
With the multiplication, it was just a final touch Luffy gave to deceive the World Government while distributing his own newspaper: the One Piece Diary.
In homes across the New World, newspapers began appearing and falling behind them, one after another, without stopping.
People were still so stunned in the town squares, watching Vegapunkâs broadcast, that no one noticed newspapers arriving at their houses. Luffy usually only did this at dawn to avoid suspicion.
He spent an hour until everything was finished, with Carrot growing tired in the end.
âGo to Bepo. Youâre free now,â Luffy said with a smile, releasing her.
He stepped out a little after her and found Uta in the hallway, waiting for him as he could tell.
âWhat are you thinking about?â Luffy asked the girl, his arms resting against the hallway wall, crossed.
âNothing much, just wanted to know how youâre doing,â she said with a small smile.
âIâm fine. Want to go somewhere?â Luffy asked, fully knowing why she was seeking him, as she nodded with a blush on her face, longing for her husbandâs touch.
Luffy took Shanksâ daughter to his room, and they had sex for an hour. Luffy couldnât stay longer since there was still much to be done while the island traveled.
âSo, weâll be meeting Shanks soon, wonât we, Luffy?â she couldnât help but ask, lying beside him, her naked body under the covers.
âYes, weâll be meeting soon. Weâre almost there,â Luffy replied.
âSo you two will fight,â she murmured, and he nodded. There was no doubt that it would happen.
"It's true, it's inevitable. All the Yonkou are about to face each other again. The final race is coming to an end. Vegapunk said that during the broadcast," Luffy remarked.
He looked at her while gently caressing her.
"Are you scared?" he asked with a teasing smile.
"I..." she murmured. "I'm a little scared," she admitted.
"Don't worry. I'll protect you." Luffy tried to reassure her.
"I know you will. But Shanks... after all this time... I shouldâve gone to that war. I wouldâve seen him. Iâve already said that I know what happened and what he did for me when he left me on that island over ten years ago..." she said with a sad tone.
"Donât worry. Iâll be with you when that moment comes. Iâm sure he wants to meet our son. Anyway, Iâm going to take care of a few more things, alright?" he said, kissing her forehead as she nodded.
"Iâll sleep a little longer. Do we have any chance of doing this again tonight?" she asked with a seductive yet shy smile.
"Well, I doubt weâll be alone when this room fills with women... but letâs see what we can do," Luffy replied, and she nodded.
Luffy headed to his office. He didnât have much left to resolve in Egghead. Meanwhile, the population was under control after the chaos, and his crew was tending to them, already working on many of the tasks he had assigned.
However, there was something he wanted to look into. As he thought about it, two boxes appeared right in front of him. Inside them, two fruits radiating a very sinister energy.
They were, obviously, the two Devil Fruits of the Gorosei who had been killed that day. Now, to whom should he give these fruits to further increase the power of his fleet and crew?
It made him think: where was the Two-Piece crew⊠those who tried to impersonate them in Sabaody... He hadnât heard from them since they entered the New World. Luffy barely remembered them anymore, finding it funny.
Despite being weak, lazy tricksters, he found their creativity amusing. Maybe he should bring them back into the fold, giving them an official position within his forces.
Either way, he forgot about them quickly, and soon the news about the fall of two Gorosei would be spreading across the worldâalong with everything that had happened in Egghead, based on whatever Morgans had managed to gather from the battle, like some treacherous person filming above the clouds during the major clashes.
People would be shocked by what they were about to see, especially when they already had preliminary information from the newspapers Luffy had printed, revealing the World Governmentâs use of an ancient weapon to destroy Lulusiaâsomething that would already leave many stunned and confirmed by the broadcast Vegapunk had already made.
Now, it was just a matter of waiting for Morgans to urgently publish the news of what happened in Egghead.
By the end of that day, the entire world would be in quite an interesting state.
