NATSUME YUUJINCHOU: Manga Volume 18-24 Reaction & Review!

Thank you so much – it was much more than I thought - but so worth it! I also appreciate you saying that about the chapters that I read - they were so worth reading in this video - I always worry that when it gets animated, and if I react, since I can’t really “fake it” that it won’t be interesting to watch - so I’m glad that you all would still want to see it with me! I agree that I love Midorikawa’s take on the anime and that it’s a new approach to the story; it’s fun to see a mangaka as part of the construction and reveling in it, so it seems! It’s almost WILD to think that it’s been a year and a half for this series – I honestly miss it already! I am exceptionally humbled by your words here; thank you SO much! It’s been analysis I’ve looked forward to every week and to know it’s helped someone in that way is insanely humbling and I’m honored to hear that. Honestly, if I get to the point where Wind Breaker ends and I have no more “comfort shows” on the channel, that iyashikei poll WILL happen! Thank you for the comment and kind words! And I am still SO excited for both the fan art to be on the channel (so I get my fix) and also to know that SOMEDAY there will be season 8…my lucky number! Rule of 8, right? Thank you for all the support and kindness week to week with this series; that means so much!

Loved the review and discussion! Thank you for this massive undertaking! 🥰 I know you note watching anime of something you’ve read is a bit of a struggle for you. But from my point of view, especially in terms of appreciating and talking about changes, amendments and everything involved with it being a different medium – I always find that enjoyable as part of reactions and discussions. I will reiterate that I very much prefer anime-first then manga-after, but even if there is an odd chapter here or there which gets animated later, I will look forward to those reactions just as much! 🥰 In terms of the author’s notes there are particularly a few things I really loved learning: That Midorikawa’s perspective regarding the anime is the idea of getting to see what the readers imagine, peering into the mind of the readers. That is just so interesting to me! Also the approach to writing some stories – like Midorikawa seemingly having a list of elements she wants to write about and then figuring out which stories will be able to include these, or if it should be a new story built from those elements. Really fun construction. Most of all, this has been 1.5+ years of amazing discussions around all the layers of emotional work present in this work. Really beautiful and important conversations. This is the type of work that is so crucial, anything which improves our own ability for self-analysis and introspection is so beneficial to our wellbeing. And if you ever had an iyashikei genre poll – that would be lovely! I will look forward to season 8 and, in the mean time, there will be so much non-spoilery fanart which can now be shared in the channel! Onwards and upwards! 🥰
