Surprise! It's SEASON 7! We're at where the series was about to be when I started my Natsume journey and what an adorable and yet poignant way to start the series! Well, first we have two shorts, but what a great way to celebrate the latest season of Natsume's Book of Friends beginning!

Thank you so much for the comment and the kind words! I cannot believe we are here already! I’m not looking forward to the hiatus after this fall, but I’m trying not to think too much about it! I thought the shorts were super cute and any chance to see the Little Fox is just wonderful! And I would honestly watch this series forever if it was just Madara and Natsume on adventures around Japan! Piano playing Tanuma is a crime because why are we JUST NOW getting this in season 7?! Where was this all along!? Also, Natsume being good in dangerous situations and struggling to “normal” makes me want to laugh and cry at the same time. Somehow, Natsume manages to continue to creep me out, randomly, and by a rolling coin, no less! Between Mini-sensei and the sprout senseis, this series is really banking on that marketing! I don’t blame you for tearing up, though - this series is a MASTER manipulator of our emotions. UGH, your description of Madara intently watching Natsume being kind to the yokai and his “well of kindness?” Just…excuse me while I roll down this hill, wistfully! 2025-09-07 22:19:03 +0000 UTCLoved the reaction and discussion! Cannot believe season 7 is finally here – it’s been a long and wonderful journey to get here. 🥰 The little shorts were adorable. I am of course fully here for any amount of Little Fox (future winner of the yokai cuteness deathbattle 🥰). And always love the idea of Natsume and Madara on various outings and visiting different places. Local tourism boards should do much more of this! Various things I loved: The season starts off strong with piano player!Tanuma 🥰 Natsume not being good at something is really cute, we really mostly just see him being tremendously competent in dangerous situations The immediate ‘no, thank you’ to the coin rolling out by itself 😆 Mini-sensei and Mini as the name Your going ‘oh they don’t immediately want to make us cry, try to ease us into the season’… I started the moment the tiny crack appeared 😂 Most of all in this episode I loved the moments of Madara watching (very intently) Natsume look after and gently handle Mini-sensei with such tenderness. And then the way Natsume picked Madara up really carefully at the end. Being witness to Natsume’s well of kindness is a real privilege. Looking forward to next week! 💙
