THE SUMMER HIKARU DIED: Episode 4 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

That is good to know on the manga; thanks! “Reading on autopilot” is something I’ve done during a traumatic or tough time, so I understand what you mean by that. But I’m glad the reactions and discussions are enjoyable for pointing out maybe-missed things! Whiteboard-kun is also getting a work out this series – among others! That’s interesting about the special griddle for Takoyaki, but it also makes total sense! Thank you for the link for it and the Okonomyaki! Yay for food! I may have to be brave and try to make Okonomiyaki at some point! I always think of the county fair with snow cones - I remember in the heat of July, when we were stuck sitting outside watching cows, we would get a “Tiger’s Blood” snow cone and it was sooooo good! That’s awesome that you had a summer job working at a stand for them! OG!Hikaru makes a raunchy joke and suffers mountain karma. Oof. I get misty-eyed reading about your viewing of your mother - that is the same as my uncle, who passed while I was not with him but saw him immediately after the moment. It’s a very hard and harrowing moment. Burned into a mind is a way to describe it. But yes, you can understand how Yoshiki is so conflicted, sad, confused, sad - and YES, remembering that Hikaru was always supportive and kind to him, and the complications of how Entity!Hikaru is “similar” makes it all the more interesting. I’m curious how far we’ll get into the manga but I guess we’ll see! Thank you for the comment and kind words!

Oohhhhh that would be AMAZING if he could see through the hamster! If it’s a seeing eye dog, I will LOVE it! I guess we’ll have to wait and see! Thank you for the comment and kind words! I’m glad someone else that’s grown up in a small rural place can relate to what the characters are going on as well - and yeah, once you’re an adult, you can really notice it and how the kids like Yoshiki could perceive it. I can't wait to see where this goes!

You mentioning that Tanaka might be blind made me remember something. When he was looking for that closet monster in the first episode he held the hamster cage up and moved it around a lot. I thought the hamster was meant to detect and react to supernatural stuff , but what if whatever Tanaka has going on allows him to use magic to see through the hamster’s eyes? Maybe he uses the hamster as a seeing eye dog! Just one that’s more compact and easier to travel with. :P Your insight into this episode and series in general continues to be helpful and interesting. I grew up in a small town in a rural area too. When I was a kid I was sheltered/oblivious enough not to notice a lot of this ‘horror of living in a small town’ stuff. But i definitely see some of it now that I’m an adult and still living in the same area. Thanks for the video!

Currently there are 5 volumes available in the manga, I reread them all! I also went back and watched all the episodes so far. I can’t believe that I didn’t recall a lot of the details of this story. Of course, I was dealing with the declining health of my mother. I’m sure at that time, I was reading on autopilot. So, I’m all caught up! Still, your analysis always catches details that I overlook. Thank god for White Board Kun! I love Takoyaki! I want to learn to make it at home, but it needs a special griddle. We don’t have room for that, so we will continue to get it when we see it on the menu. https://youtu.be/6jUMjRwKyOM?si=_C2QzUFlKY_Gzmzx So I was a snow cone girl in high school. It was fun and we got to eat as many snow cones as we wanted because we were outside in the heat. We had blue raspberry. We also had pina colata, cherry, strawberry, lime and coconut. Probably… it was a while ago. I loved making the snow cones and we just had an old fashioned cash register so we had to make change in our heads. It was a fun summer job. What a way to die, slipping after seeing a boobie tree. 🤦‍♀️ My mother died at home in her own bed. I wasn’t there, her friend was. As far as death is concerned, it’s the way most people would want to go. Later when the funeral home “morticians “ ( undertakers?) were preparing her to be taken away, I knew that would be the last time I saw her face. I drank it in. I tried to burn her into my mind. My sister was next to me. It was very strange. I can understand what Yoshiki was feeling, looking at Hikaru’s face, searching it for a sign of life and not finding it. I’m sure he was memorizing his face. You just do that. I’m glad Yoshiki cried remembering Hikaru how he originally was, it’s a start. Well, got a bit dark there! I’m looking forward to next week! I really wonder how far into what I’ve read this series will go? I have no clue. Bonus food video: okonomyaki, I do make this at home. https://youtu.be/RtqpS9FHEbc?si=o9ItnD1ITNwWW8jt
