SEVEN DAYS WAR: Anime Movie FULL LENGTH Reaction! PATREON COMMISSION!

*WEEKLY HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

Many thanks to moderator Plore aka Floor for commissioning this movie!

I had no clue what I was getting into but it was so much fun and gave a straight up nostalgic shot straight into my veins! The voice cast is robust and the charm is at 120% for this film that harkens back to the the fun of The Goonies and The Breakfast Club...but in an anime way!

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

SEVEN DAYS WAR: Anime Movie FULL LENGTH Reaction! PATREON COMMISSION!

Thank you so much for the comment and kind words! Ahh, it was such a fun movie! Honda translating his annoyance through his tie is hilarious! I really loved his character! And YES, any GL is a bonus! It was such a great surprise! Oohhh, that is a really interesting point about that resistance as theme - I mean - IN THESE TIMES - I can totally see it needed and honestly, it’s helped me to find an outlet for those feelings, so thank you all for recommending films like this! We’ll see if that theme carries over into May! ;) I do like the “quiet” resistance as well – it reminds me of the OVA Forest of the Fireflies in that sense! And yes, the idea of 80’s - 90’s of how it translated that resistance as theme and yes, I could probably rant as well! *coughs slightly* I’ll save that for another video! ;) I would be curious on the live action references as well! And yessss, intergenerational trauma can DEFINITELY harden into complacency, which is such a problematic situation - I’m glad this film helps talk about That! Yes, thanks to Floor for the commission and I’m so excited for May’s films and what they may bring! A manga one shot and some LIVE ACTION for once - lots of “firsts” this coming month! 😛

Loved the reaction and discussion! I watched this for the first time last year on Floor’s recommendation and it was such a great time! Absolutely agree with all the discussion around the nostalgic vibes of this film. 🥰 Various moments I loved: “Poster that had people on it” < best level of info to go in with Honjo the grumpy bean who was so often out of frame Everyone who kept being distracted by the cute sign/advert (?) with the bear 😂 Honda telegraphing his levels of annoyance through his tie 😂 Extra GL is always a bonus in my book 🥰 This morning, I’ve had a fun time thinking about how all the commissioned films so far have had significant and overt thematic elements to do with resistance (even beyond the ones where it is so obvious as in Miss Hokusai and Inu-Oh): e.g. One Piece Red (rejection of existing systems, for better or for worse, with radical (and maybe misjudged) action), Yoyo and Nene (young people facing absurd and overwhelming problems the adults around them are unwilling to solve), Blue Giant (forging their own path, the urgency of ‘I have to do this now or I will regret it forever’), etcetc. Sign of the times maybe – or time and place. Just a very interesting throughline, will be curious to see how it develops in later commissions! There is also a sincerity to the film that I really enjoyed, in that resistance often happens ‘quietly’ and through localised collective action. I think this links to the particular vibes of some 80s-90s films you spoke of, as often now cynicism is equated directly to quality. I Will Not go into my rant about this. 😂 I agree that it stumbled the landing a bit with the Malet moment – I have not seen the live-action film yet, but I would be interested in seeing whether it was a referential moment in some way. The parts in the discussion around the ‘generational’ elements of both films were excellent. There is a lot under the surface in this one around intergenerational trauma and how it can harden into complacency over time. Thank you to Floor, again, for this commission! 🥰 Looking forward to everything coming up in May! 💙
