DORORO: Episode 20 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

*CO-DEPENDENT HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

Well, last week was a picnic compared to this week, as we get bloody, gory, and much more serious in Hyakkimaru facing demons and wanting his body back...but is it for the same reasons as always?

There's quite a bit to discuss with co-dependency between the humans and demons this episode, and what it means to be "human." Let's talk about it!

DORORO: Episode 20 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

Ruby and Huckleberry are DEMANDING Corgis for sure! But yeah, we needed it this week! I appreciate Tahomaru isnโ€™t so far gone! But yeah, #JusticeAgainstDaigo please! Hyakkimaru has grown SO much over the course of this series and thinking of Dororo is a MASSIVE deal! I just want happiness for them both! And I can see the Given references! The statue having a heartbeat is creepy as all get out! Ominous, indeed! I feel for Hyakkimaru trying his hardest to save Dororo and like you said, realizing a new goal with getting his body back! The reveal with Saburota is TERRIFYING and really gruesome! Thatโ€™s a good point about the Nue as well. That makes sense, anyway! ๐Ÿ˜€That whole battle, though, was one of the more gory and intense so far - the lighting and shadows in their last โ€œshowdownโ€ was GORGEOUS, even if it was really gory and sad. It really is a well done sequence, even if it is heartbreaking. And yeah, other than Hosoya and Tsuda, I do struggle sometimes - Iโ€™m getting *better* with Suwabe and Kamiya at least! Hahaha!! And yeah, Iโ€™m definitely a face personโ€ฆusually! XD Thank you for the comment and kind words - I canโ€™t believe weโ€™re nearing the home stretch!

Dogs and their demanding nature ๐Ÿ˜† Ruby, uncaring that you are watching Dororo, and just demanding scratches is adorable. Maybe one of the only bits of sweetness this reaction ๐Ÿ˜… Daigo I definitely think would have just left the child, or ordered one of his servants to give the man food. So it is nice to see the old Tahomaru is still there with how he gets off his horse and helps the man and his child. It is heartbreaking seeing the innocents suffering because the "blessings" are being taken back from the land, but I completely agree that their focusing the blame solely on Hyakkimaru is wrong. Daigo should be the one held most accountable for his actions. Hyakkimaru thinking of Dororo and giving her food really is such a big deal. He's learned to consider others' needs, and to be caring of Dororo ๐Ÿฅฐ But it's also a big deal for Dororo, especially after her just wondering why she is so fascinated by the leaves and realising it's because she is safe to do so, and doesn't have to be constantly on guard because she's alone in this cruel world ๐Ÿฅบ She doesn't have the same worries about surviving because she's got Hyakkimaru by her side now ๐Ÿ˜ข Gotta say Hyakkimaru just grunting in agreement while Dororo waxes on about the beauty of the landscape reminds me so much of Uenoyama and Mafuyu, and Uenoyama pulling Mafuyu on doing the exact same thing ๐Ÿ˜‚ As if the Hall of Hell wasn't creepy enough there's now the sound of a heartbeat coming from one of the statues ๐Ÿ˜… Definitely adding that layer of dread for what might come next. Hyakkimaru trying his utmost to free Dororo hurts so much [pleading] Poor boy has relied so much on his prosthetics or his sword limbs to protect, fight, and save them, but in this situation both are pretty much useless. Hyakkimaru's want for his body back has always been mostly because it's *his* body, but this moment I think is when Hyakkimaru desperately wishes most that he could have his body back for another reason: to have the ability to help and save Dororo ๐Ÿ˜ญ And then for that desperation to be expressed through the thorough mutilation of Nue (and the overkill in destroying it), it makes it all the more heart-breaking. I think of all the side character stories Saburota's is the most horrifying one to watch. The reveal that he cut off his mother's arm so that he could run away safely is so well done. Getting to see his past really helps you understand his unbalanced mindset. As for why Nue didn't eat/attack him, personally I think it's similar to Jukai not being attacked by the demons born from the tree back in Episode 17, but then it bit him after he said goodbye to Hyakkimaru. Prior to that moment he wasn't living, and was barely even an existence. I feel like Saburota ended up the same way after leaving his village and seeing all the other villagers pass away too. Definitely with you on the sound and visuals of Saburota's hands impaled on Hyakkimaru's sword arms and then the squealch as he pulled them free always makes me flinch. Hand injuries like that are a definite for making me squirm in any kind of medium. The orchestral score that plays throughout the end as Dororo comes upon the bloody mess of Hyakkimaru is definitely one of my favourites from this anime's OST. Its so haunting and great at filling you with dread for what's still to come. I'll give you a point for Saburota's seiyuu, at least both Nakamura and Suwabe both voice characters in Jujutsu Kaisen ๐Ÿ˜ In all seriousness though I understand people not being able to recognise voices. It sometimes can take me a bit to think of the seiyuu's name but I can usually recognise them by other characters they've voiced. I think because I listen to shows and things with headphones it makes it much easier to recognise them. Also for me voices are easier to recognise over faces, whereas I know people who recognise faces better than voices.

Hahaha!! I love that you know it! Akebia is such an interesting fruit - and I have seen it a lot in anime so thatโ€™s neat! Thank you for the video about it! Now I need to find some to maybe try! ๐Ÿ˜› That entire โ€œdrowningโ€ scene was really scary and the most tense Iโ€™ve been in a while in this series - go figure that nature is the biggest enemy for this crew! Thank GOODNESS Biwamaru showed up right on time this episode! I totally get what you mean in a way - I can recognize faces but NAMES? The worst. And some voices I know well, but others I feel I get closeeeee but no cigar, hahaha! And yeah, the heart thing is a weird thing to bring up NOW, but itโ€™s fine! At least itโ€™s something to tie us to the end of the series! Thank you for the comment and kind words!!

Yeah, you knew Iโ€™d know what that fruit was! Hahahahahha! The fruit is the Akebia and for some reason is featured a lot in anime. We have seen this fruit a few times in Dororo. Her mom picked some for her to eat. Iโ€™ve seen it in manga and other anime. I was so curious about it, that I am aware of it and if I get a chance to try some, I will! https://youtu.be/17OvquWyrJY?si=NBbXQrz_y7AFfYEf Apparently, some people do grow it in the states in their gardens. Seeing Dororo trapped like that gives me anxiety! Especially when watching Hyakimaru slam his head into the boulder with the frustration of the potential of loosing another loved one. Then a wild Biwamaru shows up! Yeah, the heart thing seems to be a bit of a plot hole. ๐Ÿค” I cannot recognize voices unless they are very distinct! I see reactors recognizing voices and Iโ€™m like, how, how do you work your magic? I have trouble with phones for that reason and also Iโ€™m slightly face blind.
