As Kimimaro stood in front of his potential students, in a slightly distant corner of the forest, someone was watching from afar.

"So, you're here," a female voice appeared behind this person at that moment.

The first person looked at the approaching woman with a smile before commenting, "And you're here too... Seems like you managed to get out of that office of yours," Naruto remarked.

"..." The woman looked at him as if he were an idiot. "Anyway..." Naruto continued, "Are you here to see what these kids are capable of?"

Mei raised an eyebrow in an amused tone at him. "You talk as if you weren't their age."

Naruto shrugged. "You know we're different." He said and looked ahead. "Anyway, they're starting," he warned as, in the distance, Kimimaro was paying close attention to the small fight.

The man from the Kaguya clan looked at the boys and nodded. "Begin!" He gave the order. Immediately, two of them disappeared, hiding. Kimimaro then looked at the only boy in front of him with a raised eyebrow.

"So you want a direct combat?" Kimimaro asked, scratching his head. He was still too young for these things.

"Of course! I will fight head-on and not hide!" Iryn exclaimed, not behaving in the traditional way.

"Instead of hiding and creating a tactic, he wants to fight directly against the opponent. That reminds me of a certain someone..." Mei murmured from a distance. "Your ideals are beginning to change even the behavior of the ninjas," she murmured.

Naruto uncrossed his arms. "Not everything is solved with clever tactics. Sometimes, a direct combat can be enough," he said with a confident smile.

"You talk as if everyone were like you," she complained, while looking ahead, with the boy starting to launch his attack. He began making a sequence of seals quickly, and as soon as he finished, his cheeks puffed up.

"Corrosive Gas Jutsu!" He exclaimed, and in the next moment, he released a type of gas from his mouth, a specialty of his clan. The gas quickly spread forward toward Kimimaro.

Kimimaro saw it coming and, seeing the ground being quickly destroyed and melted like acid, knew he couldn't let it touch him. He made some seals and placed his hand on the ground. A bone barrier was created like a wall.

The gas began hitting the bones, starting to corrode a bit of the surface, but it didn't get through, leaving only some marks, while it continued to corrode and the bones were slowly melted.

Kimimaro looked at it satisfied, while, in the middle of that fog, kunai began flying toward him, some of them being slightly corroded for being thrown from inside it.

Quickly, Kimimaro pulled out a bone and began striking against the flying objects, easily knocking any of them out of his way.

He looked at the smoke still lingering in the air, searching for the boy, but found nothing of him there until, suddenly, the ground beneath him began to move, forcing him to jump immediately as the boy emerged from it with an Earth-style jutsu, trying to surprise Kimimaro.

"He has learned a lot since that camp," Naruto commented, watching the fight from a distance. The boy from the Dokugiri clan has an incredible affinity in three elements, which is quite amazing, namely wind, water, and earth. He relies more on wind and water to create the Kekkei Genkai of poisonous and corrosive gas, but he had in his repertoire some earth jutsus, which for a genin was very surprising, especially for someone who started late in learning ninjutsu, as he had to spend part of his childhood fleeing from his pursuers.

Kimimaro dodged but immediately began launching his bones, while the boy was surprised, beginning to be trapped by a line of bones around him.

“Damn! I have to get out of here!!” He tried to escape immediately through the earth, but Kimimaro had already closed the upper part, creating a complete cage.

"This isn't fair," the boy murmured, struggling to try to escape, attempting to break the bones.

"It wasn't bad," Kimimaro said, trying to encourage him. "Very good for your age... Now stay there while I take care of the others..." Kimimaro said.

"I lost, but it doesn't mean I'll give up!!" the boy exclaimed and quickly began forming some hand seals, spitting acid onto the bones of the cage.

"..." Kimimaro saw this and only sighed, not stopping him as his attention turned to the side.

It was at that moment that an explosion occurred in the forest nearby, and when Kimimaro looked, a huge ball of lava was flying in his direction.

Kimimaro just looked at it, preparing himself, while Iryn, surprised, even stopped his jutsu. "What?!" he murmured before becoming aware of the massive lava coming towards him.

"AHHHH!!!! I'm trapped!! I'm going to die!!!" The boy quickly fell into despair with the lava flying towards him.

While the boy desperately tried to break the bones in any way, Kimimaro simply moved, grabbing the cage and throwing it away before dodging the lava, which exploded the ground as he jumped to the side, with the cage and Iryn screaming on the other side.

"Are you trying to kill me?! Ikua!!" Iryn exclaimed.

"Sorry about that..." Ikua murmured from the forest.

"I think they need to learn not to put their comrades in danger..." Naruto commented from the forest, and Mei sighed at her cousin's recklessness.

The member of Mei's clan didn't stop there, continuing his attack. Seeing this, Kimimaro suddenly began to change his body, as his legs seemed to become more agile, he was modifying his exoskeleton, taking on a form where faster creatures might have.

He became a blur as more and more lava started flying across the battlefield, but it was easily dodged by a super-fast Kimimaro.

"That's pretty scary," Mei commented beside Naruto.

"Yes... He can move like an animal now, which by itself is already faster than a human. But with chakra added, his speed is much higher than that of a ninja," Naruto murmured, able to follow Kimimaro, unlike the genins.

This was an ability he had acquired over the last year, one that none of his former clan had ever even imagined. It was Naruto who gave him this tip after all. The boy could control bones, so why not modify his own body...

This transformation didn't cause harm to Kimimaro. However, he had to be careful not to maintain it for too long. Meanwhile, the lava continued exploding around him, but Kimimaro passed through it all like a blur, advancing towards the boy who was attacking him from a distance, while his chakra was gradually decreasing due to the constant use of the jutsu.

"It's impressive that the boy learned to use Lava Style at such a young age..." Naruto commented, and Mei nodded. Although he didn't have as many Kekkei Genkai as she did, he could still combine his fire and earth affinities and use this trait.

"He used his chakra recklessly and almost injured a comrade... he needs to be trained," Naruto didn't hesitate to comment on the boy's points that needed improvement, but still, the boy had potential.

As Kimimaro quickly advanced toward his attacker, he passed through a line filled with lava. The boy barely had time to react before Kimimaro's bones were just inches from his neck.

"You should lose... but your comrade won't let that happen so easily..." Kimimaro commented, with a satisfied tone, and at that moment, ice began to form in the air, creating a dome of ice mirrors with small openings between them.

"Haku..." Naruto murmured, as Kimimaro was forced to leave the boy from Mei's clan aside and dodge the girl's attacks as she appeared in the mirrors.

"Well, it seems the girl is smart," Naruto admitted, as the boy from Mei's clan finally managed to escape with Haku's help from the mirrors, while Kimimaro found himself surrounded by multiple attacks.

As soon as Ikua emerged from the mirrors, all the ice was suddenly penetrated by enormous bones, easily destroying Haku's jutsu, leaving her quite surprised.

In one of those ice mirrors, Haku appeared at that moment, trying to use her super speed, but Kimimaro simply vanished with his super speed, almost catching her before she managed to enter another mirror and escape from there.

"They're better than I thought," Naruto said, watching as everyone distanced themselves from Kimimaro, but he didn't pursue them, allowing them to catch their breath.

"Hey! Come here!" Iryn called out from a corner of the forest, summoning his companions after he managed to corrode the bones of Kimimaro's prison.

The three came to him. "Listen... he's too strong for all of us... We can't beat him..." he said as the other two looked at him, a bit disheartened, as they could see.

Iryn continued with a serious tone. "We should fight together. Even though he's very strong, when we fight as a unit, we can overcome our opponent, after all, we are a team." He continued, recalling Naruto's words from a long time ago.

The three just looked at him and finally nodded. Meanwhile, Mei looked at Naruto at that moment, and Naruto, noticing the situation, simply smiled.

Kimimaro was returning to the center of the battlefield when he sensed a threat approaching rapidly. He defended himself from thrown weapon attacks.

In the next moment, large jets of poison, lava, and ice began to be launched in his direction. At that moment, he had to further reinforce his skeleton, making it stronger, and had to resort to a special technique to defend against the attacks, raising numerous barriers while the first ones were destroyed as soon as they touched his bones.

Quickly, the three genins appeared and continued trying to catch him, using their Kekkei Genkai jutsus. The battle continued for some time, and as more explosions occurred on that battlefield, it seemed that all the resources of the three were being utilized. It didn't take long for all of them, except Kimimaro, to be exhausted in front of the completely destroyed battlefield.

"Damn, we couldn't beat him..." the boy from the Mei clan murmured timidly, observing Kimimaro still standing, who was clearly much stronger than them. However, Kimimaro's tired expression was noticeable.

"Well... you fought well..." Haku said, but without really knowing what to say. He wasn't sure if this would be enough for the mission, so he would have to give a report for Naruto or Mei to read later before making any decisions.

But he didn't end up needing to do that, after all, a light appeared beside them, surprising everyone as Naruto emerged from it with Mei following closely behind.

The first thing they saw was Naruto clapping. "Well, that was very good," Naruto said, satisfied.

"Naruto!!" Iryn exclaimed excitedly, even though he was still tired.

Ikua saw the woman next to Naruto and sighed. "Cousin," he said, while Haku watched everything cautiously, especially Naruto, still remembering his terrible failure.

"I think it's enough to be considered Chuunin-level strength to go to Konoha," Naruto said, satisfied.
