Added 2016-03-27 02:16:21 +0000 UTCI struggled immensely with Ikki's proportions. When I drew him with the trunk legs and short feet (inspired by Amethyst from Steven Universe) it was something of a breakthrough.
You can also see some early sketches at Ikki's 'nightmare' form. The one in the bottom corner is the prettiest in my opinion, inspired by deep sea creatures and outer space. However, I needed something simpler, so alas, the pretty nightmare form is not meant to be!
