Try, Try Again - Hawks Concept sketches

Something that many don't get to see with artists is that sometimes the first sketch doesn't work out even if you were using reference. So you go do something else, or in my case feel imposter syndrome creep in so heavily that you wonder for 24hrs why you are an artist. But you pick yourself back up and move forward, but, sometimes even the second sketch doesn't work out, again, even with using references. BUT; you're getting closer, it's looking better, starting to be a little more like what your head is trying to translate onto the page, but it's not quite there yet, it is still too boring, too front onwards, so you decide to use the bare minimum of references and just draw what is in your head, even if the male anatomy may come out a bit too feminine, and you hit something that has the energy you were after.  That is why sometimes you just gotta try, try, try again. This is me saying this to everyone else as much as it is saying it to myself.

Cause I'll be real, when that first sketch didn't work out I got incredibly frustrated with myself and my skill level, but somehow by persisting it worked out. There will be times when it doesn't, and that's okay, but sometimes it just takes a little warming the art engine up till you get something you're happy with.

Just wanted to share this experience, cause I know a lot of amazing artists out there, who are really, really amazing and probably don't have to redo their sketches/concepts multiple times, but I'm just not there, not that artist, I'm just this small artist who is stumbling & struggling her way through art even after 10+yrs of doing it, and I know I'm not the only artist out there stumbling.

It's one of those moments I wish I had recorded my struggle, but there was no way I was going to know I was going to want to rip my hand off in frustration over this damn idea xD So the best I could do was show the sketches i abandoned haha. But yeah, 100% agreed, everyone seeing the finished product can sometimes blind-sight that this shit can be hard to do, and it's worse when you have a visual in your head that you're trying to convey!

This is incredibly relatable, and it's always good to see behind the scenes! Only seeing the "finished product" of others can really mess with the head, when in reality it's so common to have to try multiple different poses before it clicks.
