February Newsletter ✏️

An early newsletter? February is like January in that I'm penciling Flip! Working on Barda! And doing fanart!! SAME OLD!!
- FLIP. In January, I drew 22 pages of FLIP. Here are some of my favorite panels.

- BARDA. I finally got the green light from my editor at DC to start on the ART FOR BARDA. (🎉 AHHHH!!!) Super exciting. My editor has been reading Kirby Fourth World comics for decades and actually interacted with Jack Kirby before Kirby passed in the 90's. So I was happy to hear him say I've really captured the voices of Barda, Scott, Granny, and the Furies. I've been studying the original Kirby comics hard—as everyone should!!
I'm working like a mangaka on these projects—getting assistance on inking, colors, and even layouts. My old mentee from SCAD is helping me out with layouts on this book (check out their work!), and while I can't show their thumbnails, here are "roughs" I ended up with while working with them.

- In fandom news—Dinluke is back. Spoilers. But if you haven't watched The Book of Boba Fett, you are probably still aware that Din Djarin had a teeny cameo. The entire fandom has gone nuts. I have NO idea what this means for my productivity...Yes, I do. It means I'm screwed. :) Oh well!
- And finally, a Jeeves and Wooster art trade. I planned out this illustration digitally before inking and toning it traditionally. Can't wait to send this off!

Digital sketch.

Final!
Happy February!
