October 🏒🍂
Added 2018-10-01 17:01:05 +0000 UTCOh my gosh, it feels like I just posted the September newsletter.
1. CHECK, PLEASE!: #HOCKEY IS IN BOOKSTORES.
I've been yelling about this for nearly two weeks, but if you missed the news: Check Please is now in bookstores. YEAH.

2. Fierce Reads Tour!

If you can, please make it out to a Fierce Reads tour signing or panel! I'm the only first time author so I'm going to be a nervous wreck. XD These guys are so cool!
special note for NYCC: I'll only be there on the 4th, that Thursday. The panels/signings will definitely be fun though!
3. Livestreams return October, Saturday the 13th
Traveling is fun, but I 100% miss spending early evenings at my drawing tablet. Soon!
And that's it!
Do you guys have any Check Please questions?? Curiosities?? Process inquiries? "How does it feel like to tour??" I'm always looking for things to ramble about on the Overtime blog!
Comments
Check Please Question: On one of your Pillowfort posts (that you linked on twitter recently), you mentioned the diversity in Bitty's teammates, including a Latino character. Did I miss who that is? If so, who is it? Merch question: Would you consider doing the Samwell jerseys for other characters? Touring question: Is everything just a blur, except for a few really really memorable moments at this point? or do you have an amazing videographic memory? (suspicions on the latter)

2018-10-04 01:54:16 +0000 UTCI have a question I didn't get to ask during your book tour stop! Could you tell us some of the gory details of negotiating your unusual publishing contract? I've known so many authors, over the past couple decades, who have workshopped fiction online, then been obliged to take down every trace of it as soon as they landed a book deal. This is TRAGIC and TERRIBLE from an archivist's perspective, because it means losing the record of the process, especially the communal aspects, the beta comments and questions and jokes and cartoons and that entire reader relationship, which is so interesting and unique in the evolution of storytelling. Of course First Second wants you to have a social media presence, but how did they justify the free comic AND the kickstarter AND the Huddles? What the hell kind of newfangled profit model are they testing? I am delighted? I keenly hope it works, for multiple reasons. But I've been kind of agog!
2018-10-03 23:28:56 +0000 UTCCongrats on the book!!!! Question: has the overtime blog password changed? I can't get in, but I haven't seen a post about a new password either.

2018-10-03 19:09:32 +0000 UTCI have a question I'm curious about: did you consider the "touching the stanley cup" hockey superstition when you drew 24 hour celly? Like, Rans and Bitty have their hands all on that thing, and my snap reaction when I saw it was "NO WHAT ARE YOU BOYS DOING YOU ARE HOCKEY PLAYERS AND YOU ARE TOUCHING THE CUP AND YOU DID NOT WIN IT YET."
2018-10-03 03:13:07 +0000 UTCJust got back from the Boston Fierce Reads event and it was amazing! It was a fantastic and hilarious discussion. It was great to see Ngozi in person, even though we were a little starstruck and forgot all the things we'd planned to say. But we do now have signed Kickstarter and First Second books with doodles of Bitty, Jack, and Chowder. I'm still excited so I came over here to squee at y'all about it.

2018-10-03 01:41:12 +0000 UTCHow does it feel to just walk into a bookstore and see your book on the shelf????? (sounds fake?? 😂)
2018-10-02 06:37:26 +0000 UTCDo you have any plans to do a book tour or come to Canada on the west coast at any point? Hope you'll come to Vancouver, CA one day. =) Also, would any Providence Falconers merchandise like t-shirts and jersey's be possible one day? Hope so cause I'd buy both! :)

2018-10-02 01:00:55 +0000 UTCHow *does* it feel like to tour? I feel like author events might usually involve reading a bit from the book - how does that work when it's a graphic novel?
2018-10-01 17:49:46 +0000 UTCCheck please question: how are Jack and Bitty spending their one year anniversary??
