Devblog (october)
Added 2019-10-06 21:16:56 +0000 UTCToday we have passed the second of the most important stages of development - the release of the demo version. The first was the start of the Patreon page. You can learn more about the demo in the relevant post, here we will talk about development in general.
Let's start with a little retrospective. When we first opened the patreon page, we promised that by the end of Q3 2019 the first public build of the game will be released, but instead we only released a demo, and even version v1. We understand, this can be disappointing, especially for those who support us from the very beginning, but believe me, we are disappointed not less. Why did this happen?
There are several reasons for this. When we ran the Patreon page, we had already completed the pre-production stage and made several test assets to assess the complexity and predict the possible release date. Unfortunately, everything turned out to be more complicated than it seemed. It was harder to work with some assets than with others, and there was often not enough free time. In addition, the situation with the Tomato’s trauma greatly unsettled us, leaving without key assets for almost two months. Things like this just happen. The best we could do in such a situation was to take this experience and draw conclusions. So what conclusions have we drawn?
First, be careful to announce the dates, especially if the work is far from complete. Therefore, from now on, we will call the order in which the content appears, and not the specific dates. We can definitely promise that we are interested in a full release no less than you, and we will share with our patrons all the news about the development and all new content.
Secondly, we will no longer focus on one artist. Instead of holding one or two full-time artists, we will order all the necessary pictures from the most suitable ones. We already have a similar experience with Sverhnovapony and are very pleased with how it turns out.
In addition to the aforementioned Sverhnovapony, as well as the already familiar Reaper3D, several more new faces appeared in the caste.
Our main humanoid character artists will be MissBehaviour. We have already prepared some pictures, and even more are now in production. Wait for updates very soon!
We are also going to collaborate with Dr. Solomon Volfovich as a human male artist. As mentioned in the post about the demo, first of all we are going to work with him when creating a portraits of the protagonist. The first concepts and voting for Officers will be available tomorrow!
For anthro characters, we have several candidates in mind, but we are waiting for them to finish their commissions, so the announcements will come later.
Of course, the already finished art from Tomatocoup will not go anywhere. And if she has the inspiration to work with us more, we will be happy to add more of her art to the game.
You may doubt, how so many different artists can affect visual design. Well, EQAMRD remains not only our animator, but also the art director - so all the pictures will be as close as possible to the visual design we have chosen.
Why did we need so many artists? Because even the very first release version of the game will be on average 4-5 times larger than the demo. I mean locations, quests, characters and, of course, adult scenes.
In the end we would also like to express our great appreciation to all our Patrons! We couldn't do any of that without your support! And a special thanks to Serealia for his help with proofreading in-game texts.
This is all for today, but there is still a lot of interesting things ahead. Goodbye, and see you soon!
