Axehandle hounds used to be (jokingly) blamed for unattended axes getting damaged and going missing...maybe the lumberjack set a trap that backfired spectacularly?
He was just trying to find out who was stealing his axes, and he made a very exciting friend instead~~ I had to look up this cryptid and didn't find a lot of stuff, so I mighta made some mistakes in my version, and maybe didn't make him scary enough... He's probably scarier when he's not being a happy good boy lol
