Thorin knew Bilbo would never forgive him, that he shouldn't forgive him, and so he only wanted to know what it felt like to kiss him, just once, before the hobbit left forever. Because surely, Bilbo had come to see his nephews, not him... And those tears in his eyes weren't for him, were they? He would realize he had again underestimated the hobbit when, in only a moment, Bilbo enthusiastically kisses him back :)))
