Here's another update on the concept work for Trigger Treat! As you can see in this example, sometimes a character can pop out fully formed with almost no changes necessary, while others require an iteration or two to get right. I was so satisfied with my initial visualization of the mummy playable character that the two original sketches were used almost verbatim as poses for the concept drawing and the in-game character select portrait. I struggled a bit with our gillman character though, not sure quite how fearsome he should be. Eventually I narrowed down something pretty specifically Aaahh! Real Monsters-inspired rather than Black Lagoon-esque. Those are external gills on his head!
Ding Dong and I agreed that playable characters for Trigger Treat should fit into the B-listers of the traditional Halloween bestiary, so there's no Frankensteims or Draculas in the core cast. Wait until we talk about the enemies in the game though!
