Wrut and the Lion
Added 2019-08-24 18:00:12 +0000 UTCAnother color study based on Frazetta's stuff; I'm bad at contrast so I'm working on punching contrast more and using light to draw focus. I also want to get better at spot blacks in my inks so I tried a little of that~

I can't quite put my finger on what this reminds me of--maybe Berserk or Lone Wolf and Cub? The color palette itself might be what makes me think manga, despite the Frazetta focus.

I think using bolder/deeper colors as opposed to the lighter/more muted palette (like your reference pieces) works better for this piece. If you like constructive criticism (if don't stop reading so you don't hate me), I would reexamine the lower back/butt area as something about the posture reads funny. The rest of your fantasy anatomy work is fab. The whole double shoulder blade thing is such a bitch and you continue to tackle it like a pro.
