Isn't it great how a centuries-old, revered marble masterpiece like David, brought forth by one of the most respected artists in history, falls so damned hard for some anonymous graffiti? I really like the indirect example David provides; how David doesn't consider for one moment fame, notoriety, history, price, medium, any of that -- he values Goliath because there's something about Goliath that reached David. David finds beauty in art for art's sake.
