Okay so. A bit of tl;dr.
When I first wrote this comic, it was about a series of firsts in their relationship: first time they kiss, first time they had sex, first time Hannibal bottoms, and first time Will bottoms (yeah it's more complex than that but that was my basic structure to start with). Essentially, the "wayfinding" is the growth of their relationship. The story evolved around these landmarks, and the plan was always to hit those points then bring it around to somewhere canon and see how it fit. It's wish fulfillment, and was meant to be satisfying, even with this ending.
Honestly this wasn't meant to be a cliffhanger or teaser or anything. I wrote it to explore a path that could lead to Clarice and Silence of the Lambs in a way that wouldn't be competitive with Hannigram, because I L O V E Clarice but don't ship her and Hannibal in a romantic way at all, personally. A Wayfinding sequel would just be me lifting stuff from Silence of the Lambs but with murder husbands instead of just Hannibal, and Clarice as some kind of hyper-competent surrogate Abigail, and not really that much smut and shmoop, which is why I haven't really considered doing it. I think it would be too challenging and by the time I finished they could be making s4 which would undoubtedly be better than anything I've conceived. Some people have asked me for a sequel to this, but, I strongly feel that some things are better when they're done, when they're complete, rather than endlessly ongoing. I feel good about leaving it just like this.
But yeah! This was a really fun ride, I've really enjoyed making it and I'm glad some people enjoyed coming on this weird trip with me heh~ I definitely still have a lot of Hannigram feelings that I'll be working out in other comics, so please hang around if that's your thing. I know some of you are skeptical about the upcoming omegaverse comic, but consider hanging around til the 30th to read the first few pages before you cancel your pledge? If you try it out and it's still definitely not your thing then I won't hold it against ya :)

As one of your newer followers I really feel like this was really really well done. The Black Lamb is what brought me to you Patreon but I also feel like Wayfinding was a super satisfying semi realistic ending to how the series could of played out.

Also short haired Will gave me some great Reanimator Jeffery Combes vibes. Their escalation in both their relationship and crimes was beautiful. And that last page just has my mind reeling about all their possible conversations with Clarice. I bet Will would keep Hanni semi-polite lol. And they're sharing a cell! I wonder if Will trades his profiling abilities for comforts like that.

I also have never been a fan of Clarice and Hannibal coupling, only because Hannibal I think respected her as a woman trying to compete in a man's world, and devaluing her as only a romantic partner is not his style.

I'm so sad I didn't get into the show sooner, but I'm really looking forward to seeing what else you have up your sleeve. Thanks for your amazing art!

Even though I'd love to see where you'd take it after this, I understand and agree with your reasoning for not doing so. Tbh I tend to fall of the wagon if a fanfic- or comic gets too long, especially if the pairing has been well established, as it is in this case. I'm really stoked seeing what you're making next! 2016-07-24 16:11:39 +0000 UTCUsually I love it when people make fic based on my art, although I have to admit I feel a little strange about it when it's a comic, because I've spent a lot more time thinking about the story than I do with single artworks, and so when the fic doesn't really follow what I was thinking I get kinda hung up over it, not in a negative way but in a less than enthusiastic way. That said, I'd still give full permission, but I wanted to warn you about that in case you do write it and my reaction ends up being weird haha; it'd just be because our visions didn't line up. But yeah, I don't want this to discourage you, and if you wanna write it you should feel free! I hope my explanation makes sense... OH and also keep in mind that the full comic isn't publicly available yet so if you post it publicly there might be a lot of people reading it who don't have the full context, and I wouldn't give permission for a summary or anything of the comic to be posted until after I've posted the whole comic on Tumblr. I'm not sure how you planned to do it or what timeframe you're considering but I just figured I'd mention it :)

So I wouldn't have planned to give him one. That said, I'm glad I didn't have any on me when I did see him, because I probably would have kneejerked and given it just to have an excuse to talk to him haha.... Also pumped to see what kinky stuff you have in store for Hannigram in the omegaverse. I wasn't ready for it to end, but I love the pat you were leading the story, I love Clarice and it would have being fantastic to see her with our murder husbands.
