This anime just likes fucking with us doesn’t it? Heck, the only adult parent with an ounce of real decency is Shizuka’s mom. Never mind that she’s a sex worker, she at least works so much cus she wants her child to live a comfy life. Even if it’s all for naught I hate both marina’s parents. What makes me extra sad and mad is they used to be happy and loving. But something obviously went wrong and now they’re irreparable and irredeemable scum of parents. Then there’s Shizuka. Honestly, the idea that divorce parents in Asia might not keep in contact with their children or have new families and view them as nuisances. And it’s not simply value dissonance. It seems almost expected for it to be like that. And I know similar stuff happens here in America. But not like this.
