The anime leaves out some information when it comes to contextualizing Ranpo's during this arc. In the novels, it is explained that his parents also had high deductive abilities. Which is why he thought it was normal for everyone to process information the way he does. Post losing his parents and all the bad experiences he went through, as he navigated the world on his own. Due to the alienation experienced as a result of everyone not being able to process things the way he does. Best contextualizes how the "I'm in a world full of monsters" world view formed. As a result of that isolation, he assumed that everyone else must be in on something he doesn't understand. Which is why Fukuzawa needed to lie here. He became so deeply rooted in that perception of the world, which is depicted through the black and white filter.
