I'm not gonna lie Gon really is stupid IMO, if his opponent wasn't Hanzo there's a fair chance he'd be dead. I'm not sure how I feel about him winning. The whole design of the tournament where "you only win if your opp surrenders" seems very forced just to fit Gon's odds as the main character, which I don't get why it's necessary to begin with because he would've had like 2/3 more chances to win anyway. I don't like how they're so reluctant to make him take a loss for once He's an interesting kid who definitely has the strongest (and dumbest) resolve, but realistically a valid Hunter Exam would evaluate people for their skills and abilities, not their "never give up" resolve.
