Code Geass S2 Episode 23-25 Reaction!

Comments

Oh! One last note: If you go back to Episode 5, The Princess and the Witch. As Lelouch/Suzaku are talking to CC/Euphemia, there'a a part where they're talking to the women about how they'd obtain this gentler world. As Lelouch is talking, he says "The fighting will end when someone wins." At that exact moment, he picked up the white knight piece and knocked over the black king, symbolizing Suzaku, the white knight, killing him, the black king. It's easy to dismiss as meaningless in the first watch through, but I will never forget it after noticing that they foreshadowed the entire ending 5 episodes in.

So! Fun with theory crafting. How did Nunnally see Lelouch's memories at the end? Why was CC suddenly happy after Lelouch's death? The answer comes from why we didn't see who was driving her cart. How is Lelouch there? To understand, we have to go back to Lelouch's first confrontation with Charles in C's world. We know Charles took VV's code, but Lelouch's Geass seemed to work on Charles. He seemed to respond as one would expect, pulling his gun and killing himself... before he stood back up. Even in CC's past, we saw she was mortally wounded before obtaining her Code from the nun. Fast forward to their next confrontation, Charles is immortal and now Lelouch has the double-eyed, uncontrollable Geass. What was Charles doing as C's world erased him? He was grabbing Lelouch's throat... with what? The hand that had the Code. The theory that came out when this series ended was that everything that happens in the show went as planned. Lelouch and everyone expected him to die in the Zero Requiem. It's why CC's seen so melancholy almost every time we see her after Lelouch claims the throne. So how did Nunally see Lelouch's memories? Because when Suzaku ran him through, Lelouch died... and activated the Code that had been passed to him by Charles. The code being inactive was the only way he could have used his Geass for all those months. It's the only way Nunally could have seen his memories is if he was 'open' to her in that moment with a Code much like when Lelouch himself saw CC's memories when he touched her while she was vulnerable all the way back at the Battle of Narita. The conclusion is that the Code saved Lelouch, and he and CC ran off together as the witch and the warlock to live their newly immortal lives in peace somewhere away from people after he effectively created world peace.

So the phrase you were looking for was hysterical blindness. There are other Code Geass series are set in alternate realities and the Lelouch of the Rebellion movies are retellings of this show and not a spin-off or continuation. The third movie does go beyond what the series did, but the first two aren't quite the same as the series.

Jerimiah really went and became an orange farmer. When life gives you oranges, you make orange juice. Okay. There are two other animes in the Code Geass verse. The first is called Akito the Exiled and takes place between the end of season 1 and before the first episode of season 2. The second follows the movie timeline and is called Roze of the Recapture. If you don't intend to watch the movies, I'll tell you some key differences, so if you choose to hop into the 4th one, as the first 3 are retellings. So first, Shirley's father does not die at Narita; thus, Shirley does not meet Viletta and shoot her; Diethard does so instead. Mao does not exist here, so Shirley doesn't get her memories erased. There is no hotel hostage situation, so Nina has been obsessed with Euphie longer due to receiving rewards from her in the past. The events of Kamine Island (R1, episode 19 are absent in the movies) After the Black Rebellion, Suzaku did not return for a long time; instead, Gino and Anya were sent in his place. When Jerimiah tests his Geass canceller, it only erases Charles's Geass since Lelouch never had to use it on Shirley. Afterwards, Jerimiah warns her not to pry her nose, so Rolo does not end up killing her. (Still think he's a bitch, tho) Some of the scenes were cut for time, like festivals during R2 and that creepy Knight Bradley. He's still killed, though. The rest is basically the same, except for the final C.C. scene. She's instead seen riding on a donkey, saying that Jerimah and Shirley want to discuss something with her. Which will lead into the 4th movie. It is noted that Xinge had died in the movie's timeline. So you won't be seeing him.
