That means ichigo is of a noble family and it explains why Kaien looks so much like him and why Ukitake thought Ichigo was related to Kaien when he first saw him. Also it isnt explained in the anime but the main reason Aizen cut Isshin is because it prevents him from using his bankai, as it puts immense pressure on his body. So we couldve seen it in the fight but Aizen said no
