Ivar the boneless was amazing and I adored him. He was so misunderstood and complex. All he ever truly wanted was to be truly loved and seen as an equal by his brothers and people. Nobody in the show was perfect and they all made mistakes. Broke my heart when he died and then finally dropped his facade around his bro. That's what people hated the most about him I think, that facade he put on around his brothers and him not being able to let go of his hate and need for revenge against Lagertha. I understood that though and see Lagertha as the main reason why the brothers fell out and went to war. Alex was an outstanding actor and was the show after Travis left. So I knew if he was to die, it couldnt be until the last episode. Ivar calmed down and wised up so much in s6, we finally got to see more of his softer side. Deep down he was just a vulnerable sad, lonely boy, desperate for unconditional love, and then a legacy and heir which he got from his and katias baby, the unconditional love he finally got from Igor and legend status from all he did and his death which he chose so I was happy in the end. Ivar could of easily killed that boy 3 times but he chose his death in battle in england, just like Ragnar kinda chose his too by going to england too and deciding he didnt come to go back. Love how both Ragnar and Ivar said "dont be afraid" too.

2025-11-01 10:37:17 +0000 UTCActually Ivar wasn't so evil at all, he was a ruthless viking. U can't call Ivar evil when he was no more evil than Ragnar or Floki when you messed with them. Ivar was just ruthless in everything he did, on top of having anger issues, constant pain from his brittle bone disease & no impulse control. Please remember Ragnar and Floki were his father figures and Floki once said himself that his old self would have gladly r*ped his enemy's (Crazy viking who wanted to be King of Iceland & his last son) son while the father watched before Floki cut his balls & more, just out of revenge! That's the version that partly raised and taught Ivar all he knows about being a true vikings. "Teach Ivar the true path, teach him the deep and ancient ways, teach him to hate the Christian god, teach him to be a Viking." All Ragnars sons had good in them, Ivar just dropped his facade around his brothers in S6 & appreciated his brother Hvitserk more. Ivar has always been the most emotional son of Ragnar. It was Lagertha who actually screwed things up for good by Killing Aslaug (4 sons mother) & putting her own son Bjorn in the middle. Ivar was never letting that go, just like Bjorn wouldn't.
