I'm 9 months late and you probably don't remember anything abt this at all, but Shiro calling Sora "empty" when they first met is a double meaning as he said, since Sora (空) doesn't only mean sky, but can also mean empty. Karate is translated as "empty fist", and is written as 空手 (first character meaning empty, second character = hand/fist). If you look at the same character it's the same for Sora, but means empty instead of sky
